DIPOLOG CITY, October 9, 2026 — The Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Norte (PGZN) has donated 50 Motoplus UHF handheld radios to the Philippine Army’s 97th Infantry Battalion to support reliable communication during field operations, disaster response, and emergencies.

The communication equipment was formally turned over on October 9 at the Office of the Provincial General Services Officer (OPGSO). Engr. Dioscoro G. Endab and Mr. Norman Claros represented the provincial government during the turnover ceremony.

Receiving the equipment on behalf of Battalion Commander LTC JESSIE G BERGONIA, GSC (INF) PA, was CPT NOEL G MAGON, (INF) PA, Civil-Military Operations Officer, assisted by 2LT SISTINE SILHOUATE T BALUT, (ART) PA, Acting Signal Officer. The ceremony was witnessed by Platoon Leaders 2LT RENZY R DAQUIADO, (INF) PA, and 2LT JAYSON G DUGAYO, (OS) PA.

The new radios are expected to improve communication among troops and facilitate coordination with partner agencies, especially in remote and hard-to-reach communities beyond cellular network coverage. -30-

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur [October 9, 2026]-Information and technical staff from the Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Information Center (ZN–PIC) enhanced their media coverage and public communication skills during a three-day training workshop held from October 6 to 8, 2026, at Hotel Guillermo in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

The workshop, titled “Basic Newswriting and Mobile Photography,” was facilitated by the Department of Agriculture – Mindanao Inclusive Agriculture Development Project Regional Project Coordination Office 9 (DA–MIADP RPCO 9). The training aimed to strengthen the information dissemination capabilities of DA–MIADP RPCO 9, the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Norte, and other participating provinces, ensuring timely, accurate, and engaging public reporting on agricultural projects, development updates, and provincial activities across the region.

Speaker Cherry Vic Cadiz led sessions on proper newswriting, focusing on clear news drafting, objective reporting, and effective message framing. Meanwhile, Speaker Jajie Jam Abergas discussed practical smartphone photography techniques, including composition, lighting, focus, exposure, and perspective, to help participants capture publication-ready images using mobile devices.

By combining clear news copy with compelling field imagery, ZN–PIC and DA–MIADP RPCO 9 aim to keep constituents better informed about key development initiatives across Zamboanga del Norte.

Mipirma sa maong kasabutan si Gob. Darel Dexter T. Uy, Provincial Administrator Charmie Asprer-Yu ug Provincial Accountant Marivic Carpitanos alang sa PGZN.

Alang usab sa Department of Agriculture, mipirma si Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. uban nila ni Ms. Meilan A. Fernandez, CPA, Head sa Finance Unit sa DA, ug ni Mr. Vener L. Dilig, OIC Regional Executive Director sa DA Regional Field Office IX.

Gisaksihan usab ang pagpirmahanay nila ni Forester Alrashid Salim, Head sa Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning; Dir. Macario D. Gonzaga, Project Director sa DA-PRDP PSO Mindanao Cluster; ug Ms. Carlene C. Collado, CPA, Deputy Project Director sa DA-PRDP PSO Mindanao Cluster.

Ang Implementing Management Agreement (IMA) usa ka legal nga kasabutan nga adunay bugkos nga ‘legal covenant’ nga naglangkob usab sa ‘grant agreement’ nga gipirmahan tali sa Department of Agriculture (DA), ug Local Government Unit (LGU).

Ang katuyuan nini naglatid sa mga piho nga pamaagi alang sa pagpatuman sa proyekto, mga giya, financial commitments, coast sharing schemes, ug mga responsibilidad sa matag partido alang sa mga subproject nga naaprobahan, sama sa farm-to-market roads, mga tulay, potable water systems, ug mga proyekto sa panginabuhian o negosyo.

Pinaagi sa maong kasabutan, gisiguro nga ang tanang partido mosunod sa mga environmental ug social safeguards, mga lagda sa procurement o pagpalit ug pagkontrata sa proyekto, ug mga sumbanan sa pagpatuman nga gikinahanglan ubos sa Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) ug sa project standards nga gisuportahan sa World Bank.

Sa maong proyekto naglangkob sa rehabilitasyon ug pagkongkreto sa Lanawan–Tambalang–Balakan Road ug Salug–Sarawagan–Raba Road (Segment 1) sa lungsod sa Salug, adunay kinatibuk-ang gitas-on nga 13.073 kilometros. Lakip usab niini ang Dipopor–Poblacion Road (Segment 2) sa lungsod sa Godod nga adunay gitas-on nga 9.562 kilometros.

Sa kinatibuk-an, mokabat sa 22.635 kilometros ang mga dalang pagaayohon ug sementohon aron mapalambo ang pagdugtong sa mga komunidad, mapadali ang pagbiyahe ug pagdala sa mga produktong agrikultural gikan sa kaumahan ngadto sa mga merkado.

Kahinumduman nga kaniadtong ikaduhang semana sa Septyembre, una nang nagpirmahanay si Gov. Uy ug Secretary Laurel sa No Objection Letter 1 (NOL1) alang sa maong Salug-Godod Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) farm-to-market road project. Ang maong dokumento maoy naghatag og agianan sa sunod-sunod nga mga lakang nga migiya ngadto sa pormal nga pagpirma sa Implementation Management Agreement. -30-

QUEZON CITY, Oktubre 8, 2026 — Duol na sa pagpatuman ang duha ka dagkong proyekto sa Potable Water System (PWS) nga mokabat sa ₱219.9 milyon alang sa mga kabarangayan sa Sergio Osmeña ug La Libertad human nadawat sa duha ka lungsod ang No Objection Letter 1 (NOL1) ubos sa Department of Agriculture–Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) Scale-Up.

Gidawat nila Mayor Glen N. Yu sa Sergio Osmeña ug Mayor Ricky R. Cuenca sa La Libertad ang NOL1 atol sa ceremonial turn-over nga gihimo sa nasudnong buhatan sa Department of Agriculture sa Quezon City niadtong Oktubre 8.

Ang proposed PWS Level II sa Sergio Osmeña adunay pondo nga ₱109,998,362.57, samtang ₱109,937,224.39 ang gigahin alang sa La Libertad.

Ang duha ka proyekto gituyo sa paghatag nga mas kasaligan, luwas ug malungtarong suplay sa tubig sa mga kabarangayan nga dugay nang nag-atubang og problema sa kalidad ug access sa tubig.

Sa Sergio Osmeña, usa sa mga nag-unang problema mao ang kalidad sa tubig panahon sa ting-ulan, diin ang tubig mahimong dili angay imnon tungod sa pagkalubog sa tinubdan niini.

Sa La Libertad, dugay na usab nga problema sa mga lumulupyo ang ka layo sa mga tinubdan sa tubig. Kini personal nga nasinati ni Mayor Cuenca sukad pa sa iyang pagkabata, diin kinahanglan pa niyang maghakot og tubig gamit ang karomata alang sa ilang panimalay ug mga silingan.

Kahinumduman nga ang duha ka proyekto giaprobahan sa Regional Project Advisory Board 9 (RPAB9) niadtong Septyembre 28, 2026 aron mapondohan ubos sa DA-PRDP Scale-Up.

Following the recent school shooting incident, the Association of Local Social Welfare and Development Officers of the Philippines (ALSWDOPI) – Zamboanga del Norte Chapter promptly gathered its members to discuss the prevention of Nihilistic Violent Extremism (NVE) and appropriate responses to emerging threats affecting children and communities.

The initiative strengthened the capacity of social workers to recognize warning signs, respond appropriately to children exposed to violence or extremist influences, and provide timely psychosocial and protective interventions. It also underscored the importance of coordination among social workers, schools, families, law enforcement, and other stakeholders in ensuring the safety and well-being of children.

Through this proactive effort, ALSWDOPI Zamboanga del Norte continues to equip social workers with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively to emerging risks and protect children from violence, harm, and extremist influences.

LA LIBERTAD, ZN (Oktubre 8, 2026) --- Nagapadayon gihapon ang implementasyon sa 'Rehabilitation of Provincial Road' sa Barangay Mercedes, La Libertad, Zamboanga del Norte, nga nagtumong sa pagpaayo sa kahimtang sa provincial road lakip ang mga 'line ditch canal' nga naghatag og mas hapsay ug mas luwas nga agianan alang sa mga residente, motorista, ug uban pang mga naggamit sa maong dalan.

Kabahin sa proyekto ang mga kalihokan alang sa pagpaayo ug rehabilitasyon sa kasamtangang kondisyon sa dalan, tungod kay importante kaayo kini alang sa komunidad kay ang maong dalan daghang mga katawhan ang migamit sa adlaw-adlaw nga pagbiyahe, transportasyon sa mga produkto, ug pag-access sa nagkalain-laing serbisyo.

Gipangulohan ang proyekto ni Project-in-Charge, Engr. Mark J. Mosende, ubos sa superbisyon ni Engr. Arcelita T. Gomiton, Area Engineer sa District 1 A&B. Ang proyekto nagpadayon ubos sa ilang pagdumala aron masiguro ang hapsay nga pagpatuman sa mga kalihokan nga gikinahanglan alang sa rehabilitasyon sa dalan.

Ang maong proyekto gihangyo sa Barangay Mercedes, La Libertad, pinaagi kang Hon. Melanie E. Atay, Barangay Chairperson, isip tubag sa panginahanglan sa komunidad alang sa mas maayong kondisyon sa dalan. Gilauman nga ang rehabilitasyon makatabang sa pagpalambo sa 'accessibility' sa barangay ngadto sa ubang mga lugar sa munisipyo.

DIPOLOG CITY, (October 8, 2026) — A new chapter of hope and opportunity unfolded for student beneficiaries of the Provincial Scholarship and Educational Assistance (PSEdA) Program as representatives of the Dipolog Medical Center College Foundation, Inc. (DMCCFI) paid a courtesy call on Monday, October 5, following the approval of new scholarship grants under the program.

The courtesy visit brought together school officials and representatives who expressed their appreciation to Governor Darel Dexter T. Uy for providing educational assistance to students who may otherwise struggle to meet the financial demands of pursuing their studies.

The DMCCFI delegation was headed by Mr. Rey Cornillo, School Registrar, along with Mr. Roland Siasico, Scholarship Focal In-Charge, and Mr. Keenyji Karbasi, Community Extension Services Coordinator.

During the visit, DMCCFI conveyed its gratitude to Governor Darel for establishing and supporting a scholarship initiative that gives students from financially challenged families greater opportunities to remain in school and pursue their educational aspirations.

The PSEdA Program is designed to provide assistance to young people from families with limited income while giving priority to students who demonstrate good academic performance, perseverance, and determination to continue their education.

According to Executive Assistant IV Marilou Y. Calibo, Person-In-Charge of the PSEdA Program, the initiative is part of the province’s continuing efforts to help deserving students overcome financial barriers to education.

This year alone, the provincial government is supporting more than 400 scholars through the program, providing assistance to students who are working toward their academic goals despite economic challenges.

Beyond financial assistance, the scholarship gives its beneficiaries renewed motivation to persevere in their studies, overcome challenges, and work toward achieving their educational dreams.

With every scholarship grant, the provincial government seeks to open another door for a young learner—showing that financial limitations should not stand in the way of education, ambition, and a brighter future.

DIPOLOG CITY (October 7, 2026) — The sound of music is set to fill the classrooms and school grounds of two more schools as musical instruments were turned over today through the Department of Health’s (DOH) Healthy Learning Institution (HLI) Program.

New Dapitan Elementary School and Pitawe Elementary School in the municipality of Gutalac were the latest recipients of the musical instruments, providing learners with new opportunities to discover their talents, build confidence, and experience the joy of music.

Representing New Dapitan Elementary School was Mr. Leo O. Penaso, School Head, while Mr. Elsieboy S. Palis, Teacher-in-Charge, represented Pitawe Elementary School.

The musical instrument sets included snare drums with drumsticks, ukuleles, guitars, bass drums with bass be**ers, trio marching drums, xylophone lyres with be**er sticks, and double drums with harnesses and drumsticks. The instruments are expected to support school activities, marching performances, music instruction, and other student-centered programs.

More than just new equipment, the musical instruments provide learners with greater opportunities to explore music, develop their talents, express their creativity, and reach their full potential.

Both teachers expressed their gratitude to Governor Darel Dexter T. Uy for providing the musical instruments, recognizing the value of the support in enriching the learning experiences of their students.

Representing Governor Uy during the turnover were Mrs. Imelda Endab, Executive Assistant IV of the Provincial Governor’s Office (PGO), and Mr. Manolo Lugasan of the Office of the Provincial Health Officer (OPHO).

With every drumbeat, strum, and melody, the new instruments are expected to bring a livelier rhythm to the two schools. Beyond producing music, they may also help nurture discipline, teamwork, creativity, and self-expression among learners.

Through this initiative, the schools are given greater opportunities to nurture young talents, strengthen essential skills, and help learners find their own rhythm through music. -30-
