SALUG, ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE (July 22, 2025 โ As part of the 51st Nutrition Month celebration and in support of Governor Darel Dexter Uyโs health agenda, the Municipality of Salug held its second round of medical and dental outreach on July 22, 2025, in Barangay Caracol.
The activity, led by Mayor Ruth Brillantes in collaboration with the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and the Salug Rural Health Unit (RHU), aimed to deliver free health services to residents in remote communities.
A total of 458 services were provided to 370 individuals of all ages. Medical consultations and free medicines were given to 2 infants aged 0 to 1, 19 children aged 2 to 5, 45 children aged 6 to 11, 52 young adults aged 12 to 18, 101 adults aged 19 to 59, and 16 senior citizens aged 60 and above.
Dental services, mostly tooth extractions, were availed by 23 children aged 6 to 11, 48 young adults aged 12 to 18, 37 adults aged 19 to 59, and 14 senior citizens aged 60 and above.
In addition, 13 boys underwent circumcision. Laboratory services included 24 urinalysis tests, 24 Urine Albumin Creatinine Ratio (UACR) tests, and 40 X-ray procedures.
"Bringing healthcare services closer to our people, especially in remote barangays, is a top priority," Mayor Brillantes said. "This program is a reflection of our continued effort to care for every Salug resident."
Similar medical missions are scheduled in Barangay Poblacion on July 24 and Barangay Canawan on July 28. Local officials and healthcare workers continue to work together to ensure that essential medical services remain accessible to all, in line with the goals of Nutrition Month. (REY GARCIA)
