One opportunity while existing under the adversity of the pandemic is the pushing of digital transformation not only in government but more evident in the business industries. The proliferation of digital marketing has proven the value of electronic commerce (e-Commerce) as catalyst to keep the economy engaging amidst the fear of the virus SARS-Cov2 that can cause the most dreaded COVID-19 disease.
We at the academe are bound to accommodate and incorporate in our respective curricula multiverse facets of digital transformation in the new normal. And one common unit among many disciplines is the appreciation and handling of data. As the new oil, data play a major role in the transformation of business processes and organizations. Because we are now in the age of “big” data – sources coming from social media, imaging devices, sensors from IoT devices, among other new technologies and aside from the existing information systems in most companies/organizations, handling and management using analytics can save the day through its timely information in aid for decisions.
Students need to be equipped with the business analytics trends to enhance their problem-solving and critical thinking skills needed to pursue data science education.
Likewise, businesses need to be equipped with the knowledge on how to make use of business analytics as a tool to gain business competitive advantage during and beyond the pandemic.
