HPG WARNS MOTORISTS OF COLORED LIGHTS

Lights in different colors enhanced the vehicle’s coolness during nighttime driving, but this feature doesn’t work well with PNP Highway Patrol Units. This was revealed by PEMS Aurelio Bodo, head of the HPG Special Operations Team.

In a phone interview, he sighted some provisions in the motor vehicle accessories that only white or yellowish color for the headlamp, yellow or amber for the signal lights and red for the tail lights. Having blue, green or any other color is a violation under the unauthorized motor vehicle accessories he said.

Bodo stressed that the violations of illegal accessory including lights is P5,000 in all types of vehicles including motorcycles.

In fog lamps, he mentioned that the lights should not be positioned above the headlights for four-wheeled vehicles or at the handlebar of motorcycles. Instead, they should be positioned underneath. Overhead fog lamps are not recommended for use in urban areas; they are only permitted during trails. Bodo added. RAB
