Metro Manila isn’t the only one at risk for the “Big One.” Phivolcs Director Teresito Bacolcol has warned that the Negros Trench, located west of Negros Island, is capable of generating a magnitude 8.2 earthquake — powerful enough to shake the entire island and trigger a tsunami within minutes.

Residents near the western coasts of Negros and Panay — and even as far as Palawan and Zamboanga — are urged to stay alert for natural tsunami signs:
⚠️ Strong ground shaking
⚠️ Sudden drop in sea level
⚠️ Roaring sound from the ocean

“If you feel a strong quake near the sea, don’t wait or take photos — run to higher ground immediately,” Bacolcol reminded.

And just like that, Buglasan Festival 2025 takes its final bow!
From vibrant dances to the unforgettable Kapamilya Caravan, we celebrated the heart and soul of Negros Oriental.

Daghang salamat, mga Sidlak NegOr! Until next year—padayon ta sa pagpasigarbo sa atong kultura!

See you next year, mas kusog, mas hayag, mas Buglas!

The sweetest spot!

But when you fall in line and wait for several minutes - thighs cramped and feet blistered - before your medal is hung around your neck, the feeling then gets painful and bitter. Bawi ta next year, Dumaguete!

Buglasan 2025 is by far one of the most meaningful and vibrant celebrations we’ve witnessed. It’s a festival that brings people together — daghang tawo, daghan kalipay — a true reminder that even in the face of the many trials we’ve experienced this year, the spirit of unity and joy remains unshaken.

The streets of Negros Oriental come alive with colors, music, and laughter. Traditions are proudly showcased, local talents shine, and the rich culture of the province stands tall and strong. This celebration is not just a festival; it’s a living proof that our culture is alive and thriving — buhi kaayo ang kultura sa Negros Oriental.

Buglasan continues to be a time where communities unite, families bond, and pride in our heritage grows even deeper. Truly, it is a celebration that reflects the heart and soul of the Negrense people.
