Summer ain’t over! 🌞🏝️ Lookin’ for the best summer-ender? Consider a trip to Taklong and Tandog Group of Islands Natural Park (TTGINP)!
Ever wondered where the famous floating cottage in Guimaras is? It’s actually part of the Taklong and Tandog Group of Islands Natural Park (TTGINP) in Nueva Valencia, Guimaras — formerly known as the Taklong Island National Marine Reserve (TINMR). The protected marine park is home to a couple of islands, sandbars, mangrove forests, and crystal-clear swimming spots perfect for a quick tropical escape.
Getting there is easier — and more affordable — than most people think, especially if you’re traveling with friends since island hopping costs can be shared by the group. Here’s a simple guide for an unforgettable day trip to TTGINP:
🛥️ Start your trip with a 15–20 minute pump boat ride from Parola Wharf in Iloilo City to Jordan Wharf, Guimaras (Fare - Regular: P40, Senior Citizens: P32). Upon arrival, don’t forget to register at the Guimaras Tourism Center located at the wharf.
From there, head to the DENR TTGINP Information Center at Sitio Alman Sur, Brgy. La Paz, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras — the official jump-off point for island hopping tours around the Taklong and Tandog Group of Islands Natural Park.
You can get there by jeepney, multicab, or tricycle. If you’re traveling as a group and prefer convenience, you can hire a tricycle from Jordan Wharf to Sitio Alman for around ₱1,400 round trip (around 45 minutes travel time). For cheaper public transportation options and updated fare information, simply ask the tourism officer during registration.
🌊 Island Hopping Rate: P2,000 (whole day) good for 8 persons.
Island Hopping Route & Entrance Fees:
✅ Piagau Island (Beach, Mangrove Boardwalk, Viewing Deck) - Regular: P50, Seniors: Free
✅ Balas Balabag (Sandbar) - No Entrance Fee
✅ Suba / Sapa Malawig (Mangrove Forest) - No Entrance Fee
✅ SARCEPA Floating Cottage - Regular: P50, Seniors: P40
If you prefer a more laid-back trip, you can skip island hopping and just visit Piagau Island to enjoy its relaxing beach and explore its lush mangrove forest. Boat fare is P1,500 (round trip) good for 8 persons.
☀️ Best time to go? Visit before the rainy season fully kicks in so you can enjoy calm waters, sunny skies, and that beautiful emerald-blue sea Guimaras is known for.
Whether you’re after a quick barkada getaway, a peaceful nature escape, or just want that perfect floating cottage photo, TTGINP deserves a spot on your summer bucket list. 🌴💙
