In a night of honor and celebration, the Dumarao Civic Center radiated with warmth and gratitude as the Educators’ Night of the Padagyaw Festival 2025 unfolded in meaningful fashion, bringing together teachers from across the municipality to recognize their indispensable role in education and community-building, as the event—hosted by Estefania Montemayor National High School (EMNHS)—was filled with heartfelt messages, festive performances, and a vibrant display of unity, all taking place last August 3, 2025, as part of Dumarao’s week-long town fiesta.
The night brought together educators from across the municipality of Dumarao as part of the Padagyaw Festival, a week-long celebration in honor of the town's feast. Hosted by EMNHS, the Educators’ Night served not only as a festivity but as a tribute to the invaluable service of teachers in shaping the future of every Dumaraonon learner.
“As the mover of this activity tonight, we have prepared these kinds of activities for you to make our affair a total entertaining package at a lower cost by showcasing the victories and challenges of our educators,” said Johnny P. Pugon, Principal IV of Estefania Montemayor National High School, underscoring the school’s efforts in organizing the event.
A major highlight of the evening was the Dance Competition, where 14 participating sectors performed with poise, elegance, and flair—each routine radiating unity, talent, and school spirit. The crowd roared with enthusiasm as performers graced the stage in vibrant, choreographed presentations. Bungsuan National High School (BNHS) was hailed Champion, earning a ₱3,000 cash prize. Estefania Montemayor National High School proudly secured 1st Runner-Up with ₱2,000, while Sector 3 claimed 2nd Runner-Up, taking home ₱1,500. Capiz State University – Dumarao Satellite and Our Lady of Snows Institute (OLSI) were also recognized with consolation prizes for their commendable performances.
The evening was also graced by key figures in the education sector, including Roel F. Bermejo, Schools Division Superintendent of the Division of Capiz. “As we gather tonight, this is not just a simple DepEd night—we celebrate each one of you, our DepEd Kapamilya. You are the heart and soul of our schools,” he stated. He further emphasized the important role of teachers, saying, “You enable the learners to start dreaming for themselves and their future. Wala sang bata nga maging successful sa mata sang edukasyon kung wala maestra kag maestro nga dedikado nga nagatudlo sa tupad, despite the odds, despite the countless challenges especially inside the classroom.”
Adding to the significance of the occasion, Congressman Ivan Howard A. Guinto, Deputy Majority Leader and Representative of the 1st District of Capiz, also delivered a moving message. “We are gathered here to honor the indispensable role of our teachers in nation-building. Knowledge is the cornerstone of individual growth and collective advancement, and it is our teachers who impart this to the youth of our nation,” he expressed.
Congressman Guinto also shared his legislative efforts to further uplift the teaching profession. Among these are House Bill 2108, which seeks to provide postgraduate education for all teachers, and House Bill 2106, which aims to amend RA 11997 or the Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act by removing the ₱10,000 cap on teaching allowances.
More than a night of celebration, the Educators' Night stood as a meaningful reminder of the unwavering dedication of teachers—and the community’s commitment to recognizing and supporting them.
