In our commitment to improving the tourist experience and promoting inclusive services, the Tourism Division, under the Office of the Mayor, proudly participated in the Basic Filipino Sign Language (FSL) Training on July 24, 2025.

Organized by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, this essential activity was also attended by other employees of the Local Government Unit of Dupax del Sur.

The training equips our personnel with the skills to effectively communicate and provide better services for all, especially for our deaf clients and visitors.

This initiative, led by the esteemed vision of Hon. Mayor Neil M. Magaway, underscores our dedication to creating a more welcoming and accessible environment in Dupax del Sur.

Jeannie Laccay is an Isinay weaver, handwoven babywearing consultant and founder of the Aruga Handwovens. Her talk will be on her journey on the revival of traditional weaving in Dupax del Sur, Nueva Vizcaya, home of the Isinays. The Isinays have been one of the pioneer weavers in Northeast Luzon. Their designs and style of weaving have been shared to other neighboring groups and up until now their woven skirts and funeral blankets demonstrate the creativity and skill of the Isinay weavers. The last Isinay weaver known was from the late 70’s and it was only last year that weaving is being introduced again to the Isinays with the help of Aruga Handwovens, Isinay Advocates Inc and the local government. They produce handwoven textiles that blends the modern and traditional designs that carries the same dedication, artistry and passion as their Isinay ancestors.

During the first part of the briefing, major accomplishments from various LGU offices were presented, along with discussions on prevailing issues and concerns.
