|| DID YOU KNOW: Among the seven marine turtle species around the world, the leatherback turtle is the largest! It can reach a maximum height of 6 and a half feet and weigh up to 900 kilograms.

Let us help marine turtles to survive! Do not buy or sell any pawikan, its eggs, meat, or any other by-products and derivates. Immediately report any illegal activities against marine turtles to the nearest local DENR office or law enforcement agencies.

|| DID YOU KNOW: Male marine turtles never leave the ocean, while female marine turtles always return home! When the female marine turtle is ready to lay its eggs, it goes back to the same beach where it was hatched.

Let us protect the lives of marine turtles and their hatchlings by not destroying or disturbing their nest. If you see one, immediately contact the nearest local DENR office for protection and conservation measures.

|| DID YOU KNOW: In the Philippines, gathering and destroying of active nests, destruction of critical habitats, killing, inflicting injury, maltreating, collecting, hunting, possessing, transporting, and trading of threatened species, including the pawikan, is prohibited under sections 27 and 28 of Republic Act 9147, also known as the Wildlife Resources and Conservation Act.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) continuously reminds the public to refrain from hunting these endangered marine species to protect its population.

Immediately report any illegal activities against marine turtles to the nearest local DENR office or law enforcement agencies.

|| ICYMI: Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Antonia Loyzaga (3rd from right) served as the speaker and answered questions from the panel during the general membership meeting of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP).

She presented the DENR’s initiatives and priority programs on environmental protection and conservation, biodiversity, and climate change, among others.

MAP is an organization dedicated in contributing to nation-building and societal development. The meeting aimed to identify the country’s most urgent problems, and to look into potential areas of collaboration for a progressive future.
