As we wait for the upcoming CPH Student Council on 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 of this year, we are proud to announce that our current Vice Chair for Internal Affairs, 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗘𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗕. 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗶𝘀 will be stepping into the role of 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 along with Joram Manio, Vice Chairperson for External Affairs. Their commitment, vision, and passion for student welfare will guide the council during this transition period.

Until our new set of officers is officially elected, all incumbent council members will continue to serve in their current positions — ensuring that our projects, initiatives, and advocacy for the CPH community remain active and strong. 💚✨

𝐃𝐄𝐗𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐄 𝐈𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝟒𝟐𝐍𝐃 𝐔𝐏 𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐓

Ron Dexter Clemente is proclaimed as the 42nd Student Regent, the lone representative of the student body in the Board of Regents (BOR), who will echo the calls of over 60,000 UP students and fight for the campaigns of the Filipino people.

The BOR is the highest governing body of the UP system, which is responsible for the university’s overall administration.

After almost 16 hours of deliberation, the student council body concluded the selection process. It officially endorsed Ron Dexter Clemente to assume the role over fellow nominees Renzo Ivan Puntanar, Alec Xavier Miranda, and Anton Mathew Quilantang. This marks the culmination of the 59th Convention of the General Assembly of Student Councils (GASC).

𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐇 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝟒𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐓

With the deteriorating state of healthcare in the country, along with the worsening crisis of education, militarization of schools, skyrocketing market prices, and attacks on press freedom, the need for student representation in the highest governing body of the UP system is critical.

The search for the 42nd Student Regent will take place today, August 9, and will be deliberated upon by student councils across all college units in the UP system. The role of student-leaders in a time of crisis is necessary - the student body, the nation, and the people need a leader to serve as the voice for those who need to be heard.

HAPPENING NOW | Student-leaders stage a protest action at the UPLB Carabao Park

“Patuloy na pinopondohan ng ating estado ang militarisasyon…”

Under the 59th Convention of the General Assembly of Student Councils, numerous student-leaders from Cordillera to Southern Mindanao have marched the roads of UP Los Baños for a mass propaganda action on August 8, 2025.

Among the general calls were to increase the wages and decrease prices, uphold UP-DND Accord, free political prisoners, make basic student services accessible, redirect budgets to education, and defend academic and press freedom.

SR42 Nominee and outgoing UPM USC Chairperson Alec Xavier Miranda emphasizes the recent UP budget cut, immensely impacting academic spaces, course slots, workers’ wages, and UP-PGH.

He also sets forth the controversy behind UP Manila’s Return Service Agreement (RSA) that seeks to resolve the scarcity of health professionals in the country, while discreetly ‘commercializing’ education. Despite being implemented for years, it is deemed that the RSA has not yet remedied the problem.

UP SOLI HOLDS PRESSCON FOR SR42

LOOK | UP Solidaridad holds a press conference for the nominees of the 42nd Student Regent, the sole representative of the student body in the UP Board of Regents. Among the nominees is UP Manila’s Alec Xavier E. Miranda, whom the UPM USC and the CPHSC endorsed.

The body will deliberate upon the selection of the 42nd student regent during the General Assembly of Student Councils held on Aug 7-9, 2025.
