UP Manila College of Public Health Student Council (CPHSC) adorned the Lara Hall with a banner remembering the 54th anniversary of Martial Law declaration today, September 21.

Along with Martial Law commemoration, the council also called to reject Pax Silica, hold the Marcos-Duterte administration accountable, and fight corruption among other cancers of society.

UP Manila community is also set to hold a university-wide walkout and snake rally in local colleges, leading to a program in Pedro Gil and Liwasang Bonifacio later today.

𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗜𝗡 | 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗽 𝟮𝟭 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀

Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno has ordered the suspension of face-to-face classes in all levels on Monday, September 21. Classes shall shift to Alternative Delivery Mode.

The order followed the recommendation of Manila Police District as mobilizations and commemorative activities are expected to be held, in observance of 54th Anniversary of the Declaration of Martial Law.

Meanwhile, CPH Student Council called students to participate in the university-wide walkout tomorrow. The council has stressed participation amidst worsening corruption in the country.

[CPH Flag Ceremony Highlights Mental Health and Compassion]

𝑳𝑶𝑶𝑲 | The University of the Philippines Manila College of Public Health (CPH) held its flag ceremony on September 14, 2026, centered on the theme, “From Silence to Support: Building a Culture of Prevention and Compassion Towards a Safe and Healthy Society.”

The ceremony featured an inspirational message from Dr. Evangeline Bascara-Dela Fuente, Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine of the UP College of Medicine, who highlighted the importance of prioritizing mental health as part of building a healthier community.

Dr. Bascara-Dela Fuente emphasized the need to develop mindfulness and a balanced outlook, strengthen physical health, and foster social connectedness and supportive relationships. She underscored that mental well-being is not only an individual concern but also a shared responsibility that requires communities to create spaces where people feel safe to speak, seek help, and support one another.

The inspirational messaged was followed by the oath taking of the newly elected College of Public Health Student Council (CPHSC) officers, formally marking their commitment to serve and represent the CPH student body.

The ceremony concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Fernando B. Garcia, Jr., Dean and Centre Director, followed by the singing of the SEAMEO Hymn, UP Naming Mahal, and Push On UP.

[CPHSCH SpEx Concludes with Proclamation of Elected Candidates]

𝑵𝑬𝑾𝑺 | The College of Public Health Electoral Board has released the official list of winning candidates as the CPHSC Special Elections wrapped up. Following the protest period, no protests were filed.

Vying for three positions, the following candidates were officially proclaimed:
Public Information Officer: Larraine Niale S. Mercado (Independent)
1st Year Block 22 Representative: Francine Ann S. Candido (Sulong-CPH)
1st Year Block 23 Representative: Marcus A. Buena (Sulong-CPH)

While these student-leaders are added to the council’s roster, several positions remain vacant: Vice Chairperson for Internals (VCI), Treasurer, 3rd Year Block 22 and 23 Representatives, and Graduate Program Representative.

As the College of Public Health approaches its centennial celebration, the council serves as a defining pillar in the preparation, ex*****on, and continuous service to the student body.

[Post-CPHSC SpEx Sees No Protest Filed]

𝑵𝑬𝑾𝑺 | No protests were filed before the College of Public Health Electoral Board (CPH CEB) following the protest window from September 5-7, 2026 for the CPH Student Council Special Elections 2026.

This protest period is in line with the CPH CEB Constitution that grants the student body three working days to file a formal protest. Issues and cases received must be resolved by the electoral board within the week of the election.

Meanwhile, the official list of newly elected candidates shall be released on Tuesday, September 8.

[CPH records 92.72% in SpEx 2026]

𝑵𝑬𝑾𝑺 | Students of the College of Public Health (CPH) have demonstrated high voter turnout in the 2026 Special Elections. The CPH Electoral Board (CPH CEB) recorded a 92.72% voter turnout, reflecting a high level of student participation in the electoral process.

A total of 280 out of 302 eligible voters cast their ballots, marking another election cycle in the college. The turnout reflects the continued engagement of the CPH student body in selecting its student leaders.

The results remain unofficial pending the completion of the election proceedings. The CPH CEB will be posting the final breakdown of votes alongside the release of the unofficial election results.

Following this, the CPH CEB will open the window for protests from September 5 to September 7, during which students may file election-related concerns in accordance with the guidelines set by the CEB. The official proclamation of winners will follow after the protest period concludes and all concerns have been resolved.
