The Mission to Seafarers (MTS) has formally executed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOU) with Marino World (MW), the organizer of the Marino World Manning Expo and Conference (MWMEC) 2026, which will be held at the World Trade Center Manila from September 23 to 26.

MTS is a global maritime charity organization committed to supporting seafarers and their families across the world and advancing their moral, physical, and spiritual well-being.

Ms. Lala Tolentino Rahon, MTS country manager, and Ms. Lyn Bacani, Marino World publisher and MWMEC chair, signed the MOU, witnessed by MTS information and welfare officer Mr. Neil Cabigas and MWMEC event coordinator Ms. Jomerica de Paz.

MV AFRICAN OASIS CREW GET HEROES' WELCOME AFTER HORMUZ ORDEAL

Seven Filipino crew members of the bulk carrier Panamanian-flagged M/V African Oasis received a heroes’ welcome when they returned home on May 30.

The all-Filipino crew M/V African Oasis is owned by Kawana Kaiun Co. Ltd. with crew management provided by Santoku Senpaku Co. Ltd., an ORIX company under the Orophil Shipping Co. Inc.

The seafarers were warmly welcomed by their families and company representatives at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

They were treated to a special thanksgiving celebration at Orophil’s office in the Remedios Tower in Malate, Manila. They received encouraging remarks and tokens of appreciation, including a plaque, gifts, cash, and sumptuous food.

Ms. Melina Travlos, President of the Union of Greek Shipowners, emphasized the strength, reliability, and resilience of Greek shipping, which accounts for about 20% of worldwide capacity and more than 60% of the EU-controlled fleet, despite the challenges of geopolitics, decarbonization, and digitalization.
