PAF NEWS | PAF, JASDF COMMENCE DOSHIN BAYANIHAN 6-26 IN CEBU

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) and the 航空自衛隊 Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) commenced the 6th iteration of Doshin Bayanihan 6-26 at Brigadier General Benito N Ebuen Air Base (BGBNEAB), Lapu Lapu City, Mactan Cebu, on October 5, 2026, following the arrival of the JASDF delegation on October 4.

Running from October 4 to 9, the bilateral exercise aims to enhance interoperability and strengthen both air forces’ capabilities in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR), focusing on coordinated actions in responding to disasters and emergencies.

Through Doshin Bayanihan 6-26, the PAF and JASDF reinforce bilateral cooperation and advance their collective capacity to deliver timely and effective disaster response.

General Antonio G Nafarrete PA, Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), took to the skies aboard a Philippine Air Force FA-50PH during a Tactical Demonstration Flight held in conjunction with Air Defense Training at Basa Air Base on September 30, 2026.

More than a tactical flight, General Nafarrete’s participation was a strategic move to gain direct operational appreciation of the FA-50's capabilities. By experiencing the aircraft firsthand, the CSAFP sought to better synchronize these high-performance assets, together with other components of the PAF’s Integrated Air Defense System (IADS), ensuring a seamless and immediate response in our sovereign airspace.

This integration is key to the AFP’s broader multidomain operations framework—aligning air power with joint interoperability to ensure we are ready for any evolving security challenge.

Strengthening Airpower Readiness: CSAFP Joins PAF in Air Defense Training

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Antonio G. Nafarrete joined the Philippine Air Force (PAF), through the Air Defense Command, in the conduct of the Air Planning Exercise and Training Flight on September 30, 2026 at Basa Air Base in Floridablanca, Pampanga.

General Nafarrete also participated in the training sortie, which included a Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) mission and showcased Offensive Counterair capabilities. His firsthand participation provided direct appreciation of the planning, coordination, and ex*****on involved in air operations, as well as the PAF’s contribution to the broader defense mission of the AFP.

Following the sortie, General Nafarrete was presented with a Mach 1+ Patch and Mach Buster Certificate in recognition of his participation in the flight and firsthand experience of supersonic flight. He also conducted a Talk to Troops, where he shared his guidance and insights and emphasized the importance of professionalism, preparedness, and mission readiness.

The activity underscored the PAF’s continuing commitment to strengthening operational readiness and maintaining a credible, agile, and responsive air force capable of adapting to the evolving character of warfare and addressing national and regional security requirements. Through sustained training and realistic exercises, the AFP continues to enhance the integration of its capabilities and maintain a high state of readiness in fulfilling its mandate to defend the nation and protect the Filipino people.
