Key History & Background:
Founding (1886): Originally established as Dang Long Tu by Thich Ngo Chi, a monk involved in anti-French resistance, it was a simple wooden structure.
Relocation (1900): A severe storm destroyed the original temple, leading to its move to the current, more accessible spot at the base of the hill.
Buddhist Hub (1936): Became the headquarters for Khanh Hoa's Buddhist Association, as per the founder's wishes.
Vietnam War Damage & Restoration (1968-1971): Suffered heavy damage during the war but began restoration efforts, though interrupted by the Fall of Saigon.
Iconic Features: Famous for its massive white Buddha statue (24m high) and the "Buddha Entering Nirvana" statue (17m high) found along the steps up the hill.
