| FACT CHECK: DSWD SAYS FAMILY FOOD PACK COSTS ₱797.80, NOT ₱1,503.84

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has clarified that the actual procurement price of a prepacked Family Food Pack (FFP) is ₱797.80 per box under the bidding it cited—not ₱1,503.84 as claimed in a circulating social media post.

According to DSWD, ₱1,503.84 was the maximum bid price that interested suppliers could offer. It was not the amount paid by the government for each food pack.

Through competitive bidding, 2 Go Global International Corporation submitted the lowest calculated bid at ₱797.80 per box.

For 40,056 food packs, the winning bid amounted to ₱31,956,676.80.

📦 WHAT'S INSIDE EACH FOOD PACK?

• 6 kilos of rice
• 4 cans of corned beef
• 4 cans of tuna
• 2 cans of sardines
• 5 sachets of 3-in-1 coffee
• 5 sachets of powdered choco malt

DSWD said the ₱797.80 price also covers the carton and other packaging materials, as well as delivery and manpower costs.

The agency added that its procurement undergoes competitive bidding and is conducted in accordance with Republic Act No. 12009, or the New Government Procurement Act.

BOTTOM LINE:
🔴 ₱1,503.84 — maximum bid price for suppliers
🔵 ₱797.80 — actual price per food pack under the winning bid

🇵🇭 Happy National Heroes Day!

| Today, we commemorate 95 years of National Heroes Day, a national observance first established in 1931 to honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of the Filipinos who helped shape our nation’s history.

As we enjoy this holiday, may we also take a moment to remember that the freedoms we enjoy today were made possible by generations of heroes—known and unknown—who placed love of country above themselves.

Their legacy lives on in every Filipino who serves with integrity, compassion, and courage.

Happy National Heroes Day! Mabuhay ang mga Bayaning Pilipino! 🇵🇭

| BASURA MO, MAY KAPALIT NA BIGAS! ♻️🍚

The General Santos City Government is giving 2 kilos of rice in exchange for one sack of trash containing empty plastic bottles or empty sachets under its “Basura Mo, Bigas Ko” initiative.

The rice will be distributed every Friday during Serbisyong Heneral Day at the designated barangay for that week's activity.

♻️ WHAT TO BRING:
One sack of empty plastic bottles OR empty sachets

🍚 WHAT YOU GET:
2 kilos of rice

The initiative encourages Generals to collect and properly dispose of plastic waste while providing something useful for participating families.

Residents are advised to watch for announcements on which barangay will host the next Serbisyong Heneral Day.

| SOX BLOGGERS SOCIETY LAUNCHES ‘PADAYON’ FOR FISHERFOLK WELLNESS, RESILIENCE

Every trip out to sea begins with courage.

For the fisherfolk of General Santos City, long hours at sea, unpredictable weather and the responsibility of providing for their families are part of everyday life. Back on shore are families who wait, worry, support—and hope for their safe return.

Recognizing the pressures faced by fishing communities, the Sox Bloggers Society is launching PADAYON: Mental Wellness & Resilience Advocacy, an initiative that puts the mental and emotional well-being of fisherfolk and their families at the center of the conversation.

PADAYON carries a simple but important message: resilience does not mean facing every challenge alone. Strength can also mean knowing when to pause, speak up, seek support and care for one’s well-being.

The advocacy is being undertaken in partnership with the Socsksargen Federation of Fishing and Allied Industries, Inc. in celebration of the 6th Tuna Handline Summit 2026.

The campaign is supported by Gensan News Online, with corporate sponsors COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises, the Philippine Society of Anesthesiologists - Socsksargen Chapter, and Alsons Development and Investment Corporation.

As GenSan celebrates another Tuna Festival season, PADAYON reminds us to look beyond the industry and the catch—and recognize the people and families whose courage helps keep the Tuna Capital of the Philippines moving.

Padayon, mga mangingisda. Hindi kailangang dalhin ang lahat nang nag-iisa. 🐟💙

| SUNDAY GOSPEL 🙏

“Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.”

In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us that following Him will not always be the easiest road. There will be sacrifices, difficult choices, and crosses we would rather not carry.

But He also reminds us to look beyond what the world tells us is important. What good is gaining everything if, along the way, we lose what truly matters?

May we have the courage to follow Christ—not only when the road is easy, but also when the path asks more of us. 💙
