In a thrilling and much-awaited match, the College of Agriculture (COA) womenโ€™s table tennis team emerged victorious against the College of Engineering (COE), seizing the gold in a spectacular display of skill, strategy, and determination. Held at the University Library on October 14.

From the opening serve, the Reapers unleashed a barrage of rapid forehand smashes and precise spins that shattered COEโ€™s rhythm, forcing their opponents into repeated defensive scrambles as COA confidently took the first set.

COE, on the other hand, refused to back down easily. Their players fought bravely, returning every serve with precision and determination. In several intense exchanges, COE managed to push COA to deuce points, proving their resilience and competitive spirit.

Among the COAโ€™s players was Department of Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering (DABE) student, Angelika Fernandez, who shared her heartfelt reaction after the match.

โ€œHappy kay nag-work out among plano and worth it among training. Happy mi kai actually sa team, tatlo mi mag-graduate so like among goal namo kai ma-gold mi this year,โ€ she expressed, emphasizing how their dedication and hard work paid off in the best way possible.

The golden finish solidified COAโ€™s dominance in the tournament, underscoring their discipline, strategy, and relentless pursuit of excellence.

The College of Agriculture (COA) Reapers bounced back from defeat, after subduing College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) Tycoons during a Basketball Men showdown last October 14, 42-33.

First minute of the game features a well coordinated pass between Khel Gilvero, a 4th year Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ABE) student and Zekkar Iremeo a 3rd year ABE student prompting the Tycoons restless. 1st quarter ends in favor of Reapers, 10-6.

Through two consecutive 3-point shots unleashed by Tycoons, they were able to surpass Reapers. However, the Reapers were quick to react and slipped pass Tycoon's defense ending the 2nd quarter with a 3-point lead, 21-18.

The game continues with an intense exchange of offensiveness and defensiveness between the two teams. Showing different coordination skills and teamwork. However the 3rd quarter ends with another 3-point lead for COA Reapers, 32-29.

Last quarter features a more coordinated match between Reapers and Tycoons as the shotclock continues. However, a 3 point shot from Iremeo was enough to finally seal the game, 42-33.

Every October 16, the world comes together to celebrate World Food Day, a reminder that food is not merely a privilege โ€” it is a basic human right. Yet, while some dine lavishly, millions still go to bed hungry. When a few have too much, many have nothing. The irony is painful because our planet produces enough food to feed everyone, but inequality, waste, and greed keep many plates empty.

In the Philippines, farmers who feed the nation often struggle to feed their own families. Hunger is not only about the absence of food; it is about the failure of systems โ€” agricultural, economic, and moral. Global conflicts, climate change, and inflation have worsened the crisis, making food security a distant dream for many.
According to Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), this yearโ€™s theme, โ€œ๐˜๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ ๐˜๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ง๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ ๐˜‰๐˜ฆ๐˜ต๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜๐˜ฐ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฅ๐˜ด ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ข ๐˜‰๐˜ฆ๐˜ต๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜๐˜ถ๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ,โ€ highlights that food is more than what we eat โ€” it is life itself. Every grain of rice, every fruit, and every meal shared connects us to one another. Yet today, millions still suffer from hunger and malnutrition while others waste food daily. This reality reminds us why World Food Day is celebrated: to unite people, governments, and communities hand in hand in the fight against hunger.

The challenge, therefore, is not only to produce more food but to produce it sustainably and share it fairly. Governments must strengthen support for local farmers, invest in climate-smart agriculture, and ensure that no child goes hungry. Schools and communities must cultivate food gardens, reduce waste, and promote awareness about nutrition and conservation.

As global citizens, each of us can make a difference by valuing what we eat, avoiding waste, and showing gratitude to those who grow our food. Ending hunger starts not just in the fields, but also in our hearts. World Food Day is a call to action to build a world where every table has food, every farmer has hope, and no one is left behind.
