Continuing my solo gaming journey...

This time, I tried a fan-made solo variant called Sea, Salt and Solo.

This game really shines in multiplayer- the combos, the tension, and those epic endings are what make it so much fun. In solo mode, those elements are dialed down a notch, but the experience is still quite serviceable.

The bot is easy to manage, with an intuitive hierarchy of decisions that keeps the solo play flowing without getting bogged down in complicated upkeep.

Final Score: 46–25 - I lost.

The last round could have gone either way, but I lost my bet 16–20, which meant I only got my color bonus of 3 points. 😅

Finally got to play Everdell: Silverfrost in solo mode against the bot opponent, Paws Hammerthorn! 🐾❄️

Final Score: 87–94 (I lost!) 😅
Difficulty: Level 3
Play Time: 1 hour and 25 minutes

Although I lost, it was a pretty competitive game, and I absolutely love the solo mode! The automa is easy to manage and lightning-fast, so I can focus almost entirely on my own turn. I can take my sweet time, AP (analysis paralysis) all I want, and nobody bats an eye. 😂

I have a feeling there'll be a lot more solo games of Silverfrost in my future. 🤞

For now, I’m just excitedly waiting for my copy of Everdell: Emerland! 🌲✨

🎲🏰 Solo Mode unlocked!

Finally got around to trying the Solo Mode of The Castles of Burgundy: 20th Anniversary Edition!

The solo experience is surprisingly relaxing, but quietly challenging. I really love the pacing. You’re just chilling, rolling dice, planning your next move… then suddenly you realize, “Wait… I’m running out of much need colored tiles!” 🤣

I used the special tiles for this solo game, and after all that careful planning, I still ended up 3 tiles short of completely filling my duchy board. 😭

The solo objective is pretty straightforward: fill your entire duchy board to win. Simple rule. Not-so-simple task. 😅

Definitely going back for another try. The duchy shall be completed! 💪🏰

🎲 One more game… because surely I can do better next time. 😁

Solo Play of Earth vs. Gaia (Medium Difficulty) 🌍

My relationship with Earth has always been a love-and-hate affair. I was incredibly excited when it first came out. After logging countless plays on BGA, I eventually bought a physical copy. While I absolutely loved the game, my gaming group never shared the same enthusiasm. During the entire time it sat on my shelf, we only managed to play it three times—and never in consecutive sessions like we usually do with other games. Eventually, I decided to sell my copy in 2024.

The Abundance expansion didn't do much for me, but when Animal Kingdom was released, it completely reignited my interest. I returned to playing on BGA, and all those reasons why I loved Earth came rushing back. The engine-building, the card synergies, and the satisfying puzzle reminded me just how much I enjoy this game.

So here I am again... I repurchased Earth, and Animal Kingdom will be joining the collection soon. This time, though, it's primarily for solo play. Sometimes, all you need is the right opponent - and for me, that's Gaia.

Just played a solo game of Wingspan using the Asia and Americas expansions together on the Oceania board with nectar, and I have to say - this is my favorite way to play Wingspan.

With over 200 bird cards from both expansions, the replayability and variability feel endless. Every game offers new combinations, strategies, and engine-building opportunities.

To me, this setup feels like the closest thing to the "complete" Wingspan experience. You're not just playing birds and building habitats, you also get meaningful interaction through the Duet Map, competing for area dominance, while the Hummingbird Garden adds another layer of tactical decisions as players attract and return hummingbirds to fuel even more combo-filled turns.

Wingspan has always been one of my favorite games, especially at 2 players and solo, and this combination elevates the experience even further.

Looking forward to many more playthroughs with this setup. 🐦🦜🦩

I've been spending more time playing solo lately, largely due to the series of natural disasters that have affected our region.

On June 8, 2026, our city and neighboring provinces were struck by a magnitude 7.8 earthquake (Intensity 8), causing significant loss of life and widespread devastation. Even a month later, aftershocks continue to be felt across the region. More recently, Category 5 Typhoon Bavi swept across the Philippines, bringing severe flooding and further challenges to many communities.

I truly miss gathering around the table with the guys for our regular game nights, but for now, those can wait. What I'm grateful for is that board gaming remains a hobby that can still be enjoyed even in quieter moments.

Today's choice: Viticulture: Essential Edition with the Bordeaux Expansion. I have beaten the automa by closest of margin 31-30. Sweet.

Such a relaxing way to unwind while hoping for safer and brighter days ahead. Stay safe, everyone. 🙏
