Starting with the news page covering the highlights of last academic year and moving into feature articles on major events like Siglakas 2024 and Hugyaw 2025, Volume 19 is sure to deliver captivating stories and unique perspectives.

𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗥 | SSC Reimposes Guidelines for Organizational Recognition

As advised by the Office of Student Activities and Services (OSAS) of Mindanao Polytechnic College (MPC), and through the initiative of the Supreme Student Council (SSC) to grant recognition to the clubs and organizations within the institution, an all-officers assembly was held in Room 117 of the Maritime Building earlier on July 14, 2025.

Ms. Anna Rebecca Sincero, the SSC President, hosted the meeting along with other SSC officials. They discussed the guidelines and requirements for organizational recognition with the officers of each organization.

In addition to the recognition requirements, the united efforts of the officers led to the review of planned events for the opening of classes and other upcoming activities this July, in the hope of ensuring an organized and smooth transition.

Organizations present included: Code Unity of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT); Crime Busters of the Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BSCrim); PSCAS of the Bachelor of Science in Customs Administration (PSCAS); PSIM-MPC Student Unit of the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME); SONAMES of the Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (BSNAME); SSG of the Senior High School Department; and the host, the Supreme Student Council.

The reimposition of the guidelines for organizational recognition will be a vital step toward creating a more informed and united MPC community.

This Independence Day celebration serves as a reminder of the power of unity and the importance of preserving the nation's sovereignty and democratic values.

𝙈𝙋𝘾 𝘼𝘿𝙑𝙄𝙎𝙊𝙍𝙔 | There will be no office transactions at MPC today, June 6, 2025.

Proclamation No. 911, signed on May 21, declares June 6, 2025, a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice. During this period, there will be no in-person or online processing of documents or other transactions.

𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗚𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗔 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦 | Excerpt from the Address of Thanksgiving delivered by the outgoing MPC-SSC President, Mr. Karl Justine Gonzaga.

"I stand before you as the SSC President of this remarkable class to say thank you, not just for today, but for the entire journey that brought us here. This graduation is more than just a ceremony; it is a celebration of perseverance, growth, friendship, and hope.

Being part of the Student Council this year (has been) a privilege. To my SSC family, starting with Ms. Angeline Villamor, our Vice President; my Secretary, Trisha Guanga, our Magna Cum Laude; Treasurer, Keith Lalantacon, Best in Tariff and Best in Customs; and our SSC committee—thank you so much, guys. Magkita-kita ra gihapon ta ninyo sa Bureau of Customs.

And now, to all of the graduates: we did it. We (have grown) not just in knowledge but in strength. Some of us came from far provinces, others are from bustling cities. Some had many resources, while others became part-timers just to stay in school.

On behalf of the Supreme Student Council, thank you to everyone who believed in Class of 2024–2025. We will carry the lessons, the laughter, and the legacy of this institution wherever we go."

𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗚𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗔 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦 | Excerpt from the tribute speech delivered by Ms. Ivy C. Acana, Magna Cum Laude of the Sinagtala Batch, Class of 2025

"I stand before you not just as a graduate, not just as a student who made it through the sleepless nights and endless deadlines, but as a living reminder that no dream is too big for a child born from humble beginnings. I am proof that even the smallest seed, when nurtured, can bloom in its own time.

I didn’t consider myself the smartest student in class. I didn’t always get the highest grades. Sometimes, it felt like I was moving slower, and at other times, much faster. But I learned that it wasn’t about being the best or the fastest. It was about doing my best, bit by bit, in my way and at my own pace. Sometimes the journey felt hard. Sometimes I wanted to give up. But I kept reminding myself that progress, no matter how slow, was still progress. I wasn’t racing anyone else. I was trying to be better than I was yesterday. I learned that success isn’t about perfection, but about persistence, patience, and the courage to keep moving forward even when things get tough.

My parents didn’t just work the land. they carried a dream with them. Though we didn’t have much in terms of money, what we had was a deep belief that education could change our lives.

They say, “Ka-swerte ninyo sa inyong mga anak.” But let me say this, we are the lucky ones. Kami ang swerte kay kamo amuang naginikanan. Because we came from you. From your rough hands and soft hearts. From your humble beginnings and unwavering faith. Your strength didn’t just grow crops, it grew character."
