and the wisdom gained
from experiences that challenged us.

Teach us to remain grateful
not only when life is easy,
but also when we face uncertainty
and hardship.
Help us recognize Your blessings
even in the smallest things.

Lord, make us grateful and generous.
Teach us not to keep our blessings
only for ourselves.
Help us share what we have
with those who are hungry,
struggling, lonely, or in need.
May our lives become a blessing
to others.

Thank You, Lord,
for every blessing—
big and small,
seen and unseen,
expected and unexpected.

We give You all the glory,
honor, and praise.
We surrender our lives to You
and commit this day
into Your loving hands.

May our hearts always remember
that everything we have
is a gift from You.

In Jesus' name, we pray.

Amen. 🙏❤️🕊️

19-Year-Old Student Arrested Over Alleged Facebook Threats Against School in Camiguin

A 19-year-old student was arrested in Mambajao, Camiguin, after allegedly posting threatening messages on Facebook that caused alarm among students and personnel of a local school, police said.

The incident came to the attention of the Philippine National Police at around 8 p.m. on August 27, when the Mambajao Municipal Police Station received a report regarding a Facebook account that had allegedly published threatening posts.

According to police, some of the messages allegedly contained threats of violence, including warnings about hurting people and carrying out a shooting inside the school.

The posts reportedly triggered concern over the safety of students and school employees, prompting authorities to immediately verify the information and determine whether the threats were credible and identify the person behind the account.

Police investigators conducted verification and cyber investigation efforts to trace the account and establish the identity of its user.

Following the investigation, authorities said they were able to identify and positively confirm the person allegedly responsible for the posts.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. the same night, police arrested the 19-year-old suspect in Barangay Baylao, Mambajao.

Police said the suspect allegedly admitted that he was the person who made the Facebook posts. The admission was reportedly made voluntarily in the presence of his parent before his arrest.

The suspect was subsequently brought to the Mambajao Municipal Police Station for documentation, further investigation and appropriate disposition.

Online Threats Can Have Criminal Consequences

The incident underscores how threatening statements made through social media can quickly become a law-enforcement matter, particularly when they involve schools, fi****ms or threats of violence.

Authorities have warned that online threats should not automatically be dismissed as jokes, expressions of anger or attempts to frighten others. Depending on the circumstances and the specific content involved, threatening communications may expose a person to criminal liability under applicable Philippine laws.

The police also reminded the public to exercise caution and responsibility when using social media, particularly when posting statements that could cause fear or alarm.

The case remains subject to the appropriate legal process, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Authorities likewise urged students, parents, teachers and members of the public who encounter potentially credible threats online to report them immediately to law enforcement rather than sharing or amplifying the posts.

Think before you post. An online threat can have real-world consequences—and may carry criminal liability.

₱680,000 Worth of Suspected Shabu Seized From High-Value Target in Cagayan de Oro Buy-Bust

A 35-year-old man identified by police as a High-Value Individual (HVI) in the illegal drug trade was arrested after authorities seized approximately 100 grams of suspected shabu worth ₱680,000 in a buy-bust operation in Cagayan de Oro City on August 28, 2026.

The operation was carried out at about 5:10 p.m. at Rals Lodging House in Lapaz Uno, Lapasan, following sustained intelligence gathering and coordination among multiple police and law enforcement units.

Arrested was alias “Ken-Ken,” 35, single, a trisikad driver and resident of Cagayan de Oro City. Police classified him as an HVI, indicating that authorities considered him a significant target in their ongoing campaign against illegal drugs.

The operation was led by personnel of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) Team 1, in coordination with the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) Regional Anti-Illegal Drug (RAID) 10, COCPO City Mobile Force Company (CMFC), Philippine Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit 10 (PDEG SOU 10), COCPO Police Station 3-Agora, and Regional Intelligence Unit 10 (RIU 10).

Nine sachets recovered

Police said operatives recovered nine heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu.

The suspected drugs had an aggregate weight of approximately 100 grams and an estimated Standard Drug Price (SDP) of ₱680,000.

Also confiscated during the operation were one cellphone and the ₱1,000 bill used as buy-bust money.

Authorities said the operation was the result of intelligence efforts that included information gathering, validation and coordination among the participating units. These efforts reportedly enabled law enforcement personnel to identify and eventually apprehend the suspect.

The seizure removes a substantial quantity of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, from circulation if the substance is confirmed to be an illegal drug through laboratory examination.

Investigation continues

Following his arrest, “Ken-Ken” was placed under the custody of the Maharlika Custodial Facility of COCPO for proper disposition.

Police said they are continuing their investigation to determine the full extent of the suspect's alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade, including whether he has associates or links to a broader drug distribution network operating in or around Cagayan de Oro.

The confiscated suspected shabu will be submitted to the Regional Forensic Unit 10 (RFU-10) for qualitative and quantitative examination. The laboratory examination will determine whether the seized substance is indeed shabu and establish its exact composition and weight.

Authorities are preparing charges for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Section 5 covers the illegal sale, trading and distribution of dangerous drugs, while Section 11 penalizes the illegal possession of dangerous drugs.

The filing of charges remains subject to the appropriate legal proceedings, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

PRO10 vows no let-up in anti-drug campaign

The arrest comes as the Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) continues to intensify its campaign against illegal drugs in Northern Mindanao.

PRO10 Regional Director PBGEN Nestor C. Babagay Jr. said the operation should serve as a warning to individuals who continue to engage in the illegal drug trade.

“As the new Regional Director of PRO10, I assure the public that our campaign against illegal drugs will remain relentless. We will further intensify our operations, strengthen our partnerships, and go after those who continue to threaten our communities. There will be no let-up in this fight,” Babagay said.

Babagay also vowed to align PRO10's anti-drug operations with the focused agenda of the Chief of the Philippine National Police, emphasizing sustained enforcement, stronger inter-agency cooperation and the pursuit of individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.

The regional police office said it will continue strengthening coordination with other law enforcement agencies and stakeholders while pursuing intelligence-driven operations against suspected drug personalities.

The latest seizure underscores the continuing police effort to target not only street-level drug activity but also individuals identified through intelligence operations as potentially playing larger roles in the illegal drug supply chain.

Infant’s Body Unearthed by Farmer Plowing Cornfield in Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur

A male infant believed to be around seven months in gestational age was found dead and partially buried in a cornfield in Barangay Sumadat, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur, on the morning of August 28, 2026.

The remains were discovered by a farmer who was plowing the cornfield at an agricultural technology—or Agro-Tech—area in the barangay when his plow struck and unearthed what appeared to be the body of a baby.

Initial information indicated that the infant had apparently been buried in a shallow grave, allowing the body to be disturbed by the farm equipment as the farmer worked the field.

The remains were reportedly wrapped in a diaper container or similar covering, suggesting that the infant had been deliberately placed and buried at the site. However, authorities have yet to establish when the child was buried, how long the body had remained underground, or the circumstances surrounding the infant’s death.

The body was subsequently brought to the public cemetery for safekeeping while authorities continued their investigation.

Police are working to determine the identity of the infant and identify the person or persons who allegedly left and buried the child in the cornfield.

Authorities have not yet released information establishing whether the infant was stillborn or had been born alive before death. The exact cause and manner of death also remain subject to investigation and any appropriate medico-legal examination.

Investigators are expected to gather additional evidence from the discovery site and interview individuals who may have information about the circumstances leading to the infant’s burial.

Police are also appealing to residents who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area or who may have information regarding a missing pregnancy, newborn, or the person responsible for abandoning and burying the infant to come forward.

Authorities stressed that any information provided by the public could help establish the identity of the child and determine what happened before the infant was found in the cornfield.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek answers surrounding the disturbing discovery in Barangay Sumadat.

One Maritime Front: Western Mindanao Agencies Demonstrate Unified Response to Sea-Based Threats

ZAMBOANGA CITY — From the moment an aircraft detected a vessel refusing to comply to the final stages of boarding, inspection, and law enforcement processing, the message of a major maritime security exercise in Western Mindanao was clear: protecting the region’s waters requires more than one agency, one mandate, or one capability.

Joint Task Force (JTF) Poseidon and key maritime security and law enforcement agencies demonstrated their ability to operate as a single, coordinated force during a Joint Maritime Patrol (MARPAT) and Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) capability demonstration at Naval Station Romulo Espaldon in Zamboanga City.

Held as part of the Western Mindanao Command’s (WESTMINCOM) 20th Founding Anniversary activities, the exercise highlighted the growing importance of interoperability among the military, maritime law enforcement, and regulatory agencies tasked with securing the waters of Western Mindanao.

Rather than presenting maritime security as the responsibility of a single institution, the activity showed how separate agencies can connect their capabilities into one operational response—from surveillance and interception to boarding, inspection, documentation, and enforcement.

From the sky to the sea

The simulated operation began with surveillance.

A Philippine Air Force ScanEagle Unmanned Aerial System monitored a non-compliant Vessel of Interest, providing real-time information that allowed responding maritime units to establish situational awareness before moving to intercept.

The surveillance phase was followed by the deployment of two maritime assets: Philippine Navy vessel BRP Herminigildo Yurong (PG204) and Philippine Coast Guard vessel BRP Tubbataha (MRRV-4401).

The vessels established a maritime perimeter and intercepted the vessel, demonstrating how aerial surveillance can be integrated with surface assets during a maritime security operation.

The scenario then moved to one of the most critical stages of maritime interdiction—the boarding.

The Philippine Coast Guard Special Operations Group conducted the simulated Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure operation, demonstrating the specialized capability required to safely board and inspect a vessel following interception.

But the operation did not end once the vessel was boarded.

Instead, the exercise demonstrated the next layer of maritime security: bringing together agencies with different legal mandates and areas of expertise to determine what happens after an interdiction.

One vessel, multiple mandates

An Inter-Agency Maritime Law Enforcement Team composed of representatives from the PNP Regional Maritime Unit-9, Bureau of Customs, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, PNP Maritime Group, Bureau of Immigration, and Bureau of Quarantine subsequently carried out their respective functions.

Each agency brought a distinct responsibility to the operation.

The arrangement reflected the reality of maritime law enforcement, where a single vessel may potentially involve several regulatory and enforcement concerns.

Customs authorities may have to address cargo and importation issues. Fisheries authorities may examine violations involving fishing activities and aquatic resources. Drug enforcement personnel may respond to suspected narcotics trafficking. Immigration authorities may deal with the movement and documentation of persons, while quarantine personnel may address public-health and biosecurity requirements.

Police and maritime law enforcement units, meanwhile, provide enforcement and security capabilities within their respective mandates.

The exercise therefore underscored a central principle of maritime security: interdiction is only one part of the mission.

The effectiveness of a maritime operation also depends on what follows—the proper inspection, documentation, identification of violations, preservation of evidence, and disposition of the case or vessel under applicable laws and regulations.

By placing these functions within a single simulated operational sequence, the exercise demonstrated how agencies can avoid operating in isolation when responding to maritime threats.

Beyond a demonstration

The activity was conducted as a capability demonstration, but its implications extend beyond the exercise itself.

Western Mindanao's maritime domain is vast and strategically important, encompassing busy sea routes, coastal communities, fishing grounds, ports, islands, and waters connecting the region to neighboring areas.

These waters can also be exploited by criminal networks engaged in activities such as smuggling, trafficking, illegal fishing, and other forms of transnational crime.

Responding to these threats requires more than the presence of patrol vessels.

It requires detection capabilities capable of identifying suspicious activity, maritime units that can rapidly respond, trained personnel who can conduct boarding operations, and law enforcement and regulatory agencies capable of acting on violations once a vessel is intercepted.

The MARPAT and VBSS demonstration placed those components into one operational chain.

Detect. Intercept. Board. Search. Inspect. Enforce.

The seamless transition among these stages demonstrated the value of having agencies understand not only their own responsibilities but also how those responsibilities connect with those of their partners.

JTF Poseidon as the coordinating mechanism

At the center of this effort is JTF Poseidon, which serves as a mechanism for synchronizing maritime security activities in Western Mindanao.

The exercise demonstrated the task force's role in bringing together military and civilian capabilities that might otherwise operate under separate organizational structures and mandates.

Its importance lies not necessarily in replacing the individual agencies, but in helping ensure that their capabilities can complement one another during a maritime security response.

For maritime threats that cross jurisdictional and institutional boundaries, such coordination can be critical.

A suspected smuggling operation, for example, may begin as a surveillance concern, develop into a maritime interdiction, and eventually require customs enforcement. A suspected drug trafficking incident may similarly require military or police interception followed by PDEA action. Illegal fishing cases can require the involvement of fisheries authorities after a vessel is boarded.

The exercise showed how these separate responsibilities can be brought together within one coordinated operational picture.

Rear Adm. Constancio Arturo M. Reyes Jr., Commander of Naval Command Western Mindanao, stressed that maritime security cannot be effectively addressed by agencies working independently.

“Maritime security is a shared responsibility. What we demonstrated today is our ability to bring together different capabilities and mandates into one coherent effort to protect our waters and our people,” Reyes said.

His statement captured the principal lesson of the demonstration: maritime security is ultimately a collective undertaking.

Strengthening the region's maritime shield

The activity also reflected a broader shift in maritime security operations—from individual agency patrols toward coordinated, multi-agency responses.

For Western Mindanao, where maritime routes connect communities and commercial centers while also presenting opportunities for criminal exploitation, the ability to rapidly assemble the right capabilities can be as important as the capabilities themselves.

An unmanned aerial system may provide the first eyes on a suspicious vessel. A Navy or Coast Guard vessel may provide the means to intercept it. Specialized boarding personnel may secure the vessel and conduct the initial search. Police, customs, fisheries, drug enforcement, immigration, and quarantine authorities can then apply their respective mandates.

When these elements work in sequence, a maritime security response becomes more than the sum of its individual parts.

That was the capability JTF Poseidon and its partner agencies sought to demonstrate during the WESTMINCOM anniversary activity.

The exercise reinforced JTF Poseidon as a key mechanism for synchronizing maritime security efforts across Western Mindanao and strengthening the collective ability of military, maritime law enforcement, and regulatory agencies to respond to threats at sea.

Ultimately, the demonstration was not simply about ships, aircraft, boarding teams, or enforcement personnel.

It was about unity of effort.

In a maritime domain where threats can move across boundaries as easily as vessels move across the water, the exercise showed that an effective response depends on agencies being able to see the same threat, understand their respective roles, and act together.

For Western Mindanao, that ability to operate as one maritime security force may prove crucial in keeping its waters safer from smuggling, trafficking, illegal fishing, and other threats that exploit the region's extensive maritime routes.

28-Year-Old Suspected Drug Personality Arrested With ₱110,092 Worth of Shabu in Sultan Kudarat

LAMBAYONG, Sultan Kudarat — A 28-year-old man identified by police as a suspected drug personality was arrested after authorities implemented a search warrant that led to the recovery of more than 16 grams of suspected shabu in Barangay Katitisan, Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat, early Friday morning, August 28, 2026.

The operation was carried out at approximately 5:56 a.m. by personnel of the Lambayong Municipal Police Station (MPS) in coordination with the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Police Office (SKPPO), Regional Intelligence Unit 12 (RIU 12), Regional Mobile Force Battalion 12 (RMFB 12), 1st Sultan Kudarat Provincial Mobile Force Company (1st SKPMFC), 23rd Mechanized Company of the Philippine Army, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 12 (PDEA 12).

Police said the team implemented a search warrant for an alleged violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, resulting in the arrest of the suspect identified only by the alias “Kinchay.”

Authorities reported recovering approximately 16.19 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of ₱110,092, during the search. Drug paraphernalia were also reportedly seized from the area.

The operation forms part of the continuing campaign of law enforcement agencies in Sultan Kudarat and the broader Soccsksargen region against the distribution and possession of illegal drugs.

Following the operation, the suspect and the confiscated items were placed under the custody of the Lambayong MPS for documentation, proper disposition, and the filing of appropriate charges.

Police Regional Office 12 Director PBGEN Alan B. Manibog reaffirmed the regional police command's commitment to intensifying its campaign against illegal drugs.

“Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang operasyon laban sa ilegal na droga. Walang lugar sa ating mga komunidad ang mga taong sumisira sa kinabukasan ng ating mga kabataan at pamilya,” Manibog said.

The recovery of 16.19 grams of suspected shabu represents another drug seizure by law enforcement authorities in the region as police and partner agencies continue conducting intelligence-driven operations and serving court-issued warrants against individuals allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.

The seized substance will be subjected to the appropriate examination and inventory procedures, while the arrested suspect remains under police custody pending the legal proceedings arising from the operation.

As with all drug-related arrests, the allegations against the suspect remain subject to court proceedings, and the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

Man Found Dead With Multiple Gunshot Wounds in Datu Paglas Sugarcane Field

A man was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in a dark portion of a sugarcane field in Barangay Damawato, Datu Paglas, Maguindanao del Sur, on Friday night, August 28, 2026, in another fatal shooting that remains under investigation.

The body was discovered at around 9:30 p.m. after a concerned citizen reportedly came across it and immediately alerted barangay authorities.

Datu Paglas Municipal Police Station Chief PCapt. Lucky Siegfried Sibayan identified the victim as Jomer Sapailan Aguil, a resident of Barangay Kayaga in neighboring Pandag, Maguindanao del Sur.

Initial police findings showed that Aguil sustained multiple gunshot wounds to various parts of his body, indicating that he had been shot before his body was discovered in the secluded portion of the sugarcane plantation.

Police have yet to establish where the shooting took place or determine the circumstances that led to Aguil's death. Authorities have also not identified any suspect in connection with the killing.

The motive remains unclear.

The discovery of the body at night in an isolated agricultural area has prompted police investigators to examine possible leads, including the circumstances surrounding Aguil's presence in Damawato and how he ended up in the area.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing as they work to identify the person or persons responsible and establish the circumstances behind the killing.

The victim's body was brought to Buluan District Hospital for appropriate procedures before it was subsequently turned over to his family for an Islamic burial.

As of Saturday, authorities had not publicly identified a suspect or announced any arrests in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, some netizens who posted about the incident on social media identified the victim as Jomar Sapailan Aguil. However, the identification should be treated as information from online users; the police identification provided by the Datu Paglas MPS remains the basis of this report.

The killing adds to continuing concerns over gun-related violence in parts of Maguindanao del Sur, where isolated and armed-related incidents have continued to pose challenges for law enforcement and communities.

Police have yet to say whether the latest killing is connected to any previous shooting, armed group activity, personal dispute or other conflict. No motive should be presumed until investigators establish it through evidence.

Authorities are expected to pursue leads that could shed light on the victim's movements before his death, the identity of the assailant or assailants, and the circumstances under which the body was left in the sugarcane field.
