𝓣𝓪𝓫𝓪𝓷𝓰 𝓗𝓮𝓷𝓮𝓻𝓪𝓵: 𝓢𝓮𝓻𝓿𝓲𝓬𝓮 𝓑𝓮𝔂𝓸𝓷𝓭 𝓡𝓸𝓪𝓭

Reaching those in need sometimes means going beyond the roads we travel. 🩷

During the 5th Wave of the Tabang Heneral Relief Mission, our team journeyed to Mandalas, Mapalagan where only the first half of the route was accessible by vehicle. The remaining path was steep, uncemented, and especially challenging due to the rainy weather, making travel difficult and unsafe. With the community situated approximately two hours away on foot, the team unloaded all relief donations at the end of the cemented road, where the goods were then transported by horses to ensure they reached the families waiting for assistance. Despite the challenges, water and food packs were successfully delivered to 30 families in this remote community.

This outreach became possible after a family from the area reached out through the spouse of Rotarian Ralph Soguilon, sharing that their community had yet to receive any relief assistance and was experiencing a shortage of clean drinking water. Through this mission, we were able to deliver much-needed support and bring hope to a remote and underserved community.

The TABANG HENERAL donation drive brought together organizations and individuals united by a common goal of extending assistance to communities affected by the earthquake. Led by the General Santos Council of Rotaract Clubs—Rotaract Club of Dadiangas, Rotaract Club of Greater General Santos–Stratford International School, Rotaract Club of General Santos City–Mindanao State University Chapter, Rotaract Club of Metro Dadiangas, and Rotaract Club of UST General Santos.

The initiative was strengthened through the partnership with Rotary Club of Metro Dadiangas, Rotary Club of Metro Iloilo, Rotaract Club of Cebu Fuente, Rotaract Club of Chinatown-Manila, UST Central Student Council, and ThomaSox Media. Special thanks to everyone who contributed to this relief effort, especially the teacher volunteers who generously dedicated their time and effort to preparing, organizing, and packing the relief goods for distribution. Your commitment to service has allowed us to reach communities that might otherwise have been left behind.

Together, we prove that no distance is too far and no community is too remote when people unite for a common purpose.

𝘛𝘈𝘉𝘈𝘕𝘎 𝘏𝘌𝘕𝘌𝘙𝘈𝘓: 𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘏𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘈𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴

In the wake of the devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck General Santos City and neighboring provinces on June 8, 2026, countless families were left displaced, isolated, and struggling to meet their most basic needs. Homes were damaged, access roads became impassable, and many communities found themselves cut off from immediate assistance.

Despite these challenges, the spirit of service prevailed.

As part of the first wave of the TABANG HENERAL relief mission, volunteers journeyed to Barangay Kapatan, Glan, Sarangani Province to deliver much-needed assistance to affected residents. With damaged roads preventing land travel, the team departed as early as 3:00 AM last June 11, 2026, navigating through difficult conditions and utilizing pump boats to reach the remote coastal community.

What seemed impossible became possible through determination and compassion.

More than 140 families received food, drinking water, and essential relief goods. In addition, medicines were formally turned over to the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Barangay Kapatan to support the immediate healthcare needs of the community.

This humanitarian mission was made possible through the generosity and collective efforts of organizations and individuals who came together under the 𝚃𝙰𝙱𝙰𝙽𝙶 𝙷𝙴𝙽𝙴𝚁𝙰𝙻 donation drive. Spearheaded by the General Santos Council of Rotaract Clubs (Rotaract Club of Dadiangas, Rotaract Club of Greater General Santos - Stratford International School, Rotaract Club of General Santos City-Mindanao State University, Rotaract Club of Metro Dadiangas and Rotaract Club of UST General Santos), the initiative was carried out in partnership with Rotaract Clubs of Rotary International District 3860, Rotary Club of Metro Dadiangas, Rotary Club of Metro Iloilo, Rotaract Club of Cebu, Rotaract Club of Chinatown-Manila, UST Central Student Council, ThomaSox Media, and numerous compassionate donors from various sectors. Through this remarkable collaboration, vital relief assistance reached earthquake-affected communities, reflecting the true spirit of unity, compassion, and service during times of adversity.

For many of the beneficiaries, this relief operation brought not only food and water after days of scarcity, but also a renewed sense of hope that they were not alone in their time of need.

As communities continue to recover, TABANG HENERAL stands as a testament to what can be achieved when people come together in service, compassion, and solidarity.

𝑻𝑨𝑩𝑨𝑵𝑮 𝑯𝑬𝑵𝑬𝑹𝑨𝑳: 𝑯𝒆𝒍𝒑 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑵𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑺𝒍𝒆𝒑𝒕

When word came that parts of Glan, Sarangani Province had finally become passable after the earthquake, the Rotaract Clubs of the General Santos City Council did not hesitate—they answered the call immediately.

There was no waiting for comfort or perfect timing. From the moment the opportunity to reach the affected barangays opened, the Rotaractors moved with urgency and heart. Late into the night, while most of the world rested, they stayed behind packing relief goods—hands tired, eyes heavy, but hearts steady—carefully preparing every pack knowing it would reach families who had just lost so much.

It was more than preparation; it was love in action.

The relief operation was held at Barangay Baliton, Glan, Sarangani Province. Through the unwavering support and generosity of Tabang Heneral donors, the team was able to reach the area and extend immediate assistance. More than 170 families received relief goods and drinking water—small lifelines delivered in a moment of great need.

Behind these numbers are real lives: homes reduced to rubble, nights filled with uncertainty, and families trying to hold on after the earthquake. Reports recorded 58 totally damaged homes and 41 partially damaged households—each one carrying a story of loss, resilience, and hope.

But in the middle of the aftermath, there were also hands that refused to stop helping, and hearts that refused to turn away.

This is what service looks like when it is lived, not just spoken—showing up when it is hardest, staying when it is late, and choosing compassion even in exhaustion.
