| LGU GENSAN OFFERS FREE STUDENT RIDES STARTING JUNE 8

The City Government of General Santos, under the leadership of Mayor Lorelie Geronimo Pacquiao, will launch its Libreng Sakay program for students beginning June 8, 2026, providing free transportation between selected barangays and the city proper.

The initiative aims to help ease the daily transportation expenses of students while improving their access to education.

The free bus service will operate on weekdays and cover the following routes:

🚌 Batomelong – Lagao – Plaza
🚌 Bawing – Makar – Plaza

Trips will begin at 6:00 AM onwards, Monday to Friday.

Mayor Pacquiao said the program reflects the city’s commitment to supporting students and ensuring that financial constraints do not become a barrier to education.

| GENERAL SANTOS CITY TO OBSERVE 4-DAY LONG WEEKEND ON JUNE 12–15

GENERAL SANTOS CITY — Residents of General Santos City can look forward to a four-day long weekend this June as the city observes both Independence Day and its Charter Anniversary.

Under Memorandum No. CMO2026-JUNE-JMA-0188 issued by the City Mayor's Office, signed by Mayor Lorelie Geronimo Pacquiao, June 12, 2026 (Friday) will be observed as Independence Day, a Regular Holiday, pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1006, Series of 2025.

Meanwhile, June 15, 2026 (Monday) will be observed as the General Santos City Charter Anniversary, a Special Non-Working Day, in accordance with Republic Act No. 12248, Series of 2025.

The holiday schedule effectively creates a four-day break from June 12 to June 15, covering Friday through Monday.

Despite the holiday observance, the City Mayor's Office emphasized that government personnel assigned to frontline and essential services are required to continue reporting for work to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of public services.

These include offices and personnel involved in health services, public safety, traffic enforcement, disaster risk reduction and management, sanitation, and other critical government functions.

The memorandum serves as guidance for all concerned offices and employees in the Local Government Unit of General Santos City regarding the observance of the June 2026 holidays.
