MAS MAGALING PA... yung online preacher sa pastor namin!🥹
Have you ever caught yourself thinking that?
Yung online preacher na napapanood natin—mas charismatic, mas polished, ang galing magsalita, iba yung dating, at minsan parang bawat sentence may bagong revelation. 😅
And honestly, I understand.
Sa digital era ngayon, sobrang laki ng blessing na we can listen to preachers and teachers from different places around the world with just one click.
Pero somewhere along the way…
We started comparing.
“Mas gusto ko yung preaching niya.”
“Mas malalim siya mag-preach.”
“Mas relatable siya.”
Until eventually…
GINAWA NATING ONLINE PREACHER vs. LOCAL PASTOR. 😓
And I think this is where we need to pause.
AN ONLINE PREACHER CAN REACH YOU, BUT A LOCAL PASTOR CAN WALK WITH YOU.
An online preacher can teach you, equip you, challenge you, and sharpen your understanding of God’s Word.
And praise God for that! 🙌
But an online preacher may not personally know your whole story.
A local pastor, on the other hand, has the opportunity to know you beyond the screen—to walk with you personally, pray with you, correct you, encourage you, and shepherd you through different seasons of life.
They may know your name.
Your struggles.
Your growth.
Your journey.
And sometimes, even remember your birthday. 🥹😂
They are there when you need prayer.
They are there when you need correction.
They are there when you need encouragement.
They are there when you’re celebrating.
And sometimes, they are there even when you’re at your lowest.
Magkaiba man ang field, platform, at expression ng ministry nila, let’s not forget the grace and assignment God has given each one.
And this reminds me of what Paul said to the Corinthians.
Some were saying:
“I follow Paul.”
Others:
“I follow Apollos.”
Others:
“I follow Cephas.”
Pinaglaban-laban ba naman! 😂😅
Parang:
“Team Paul ako!”
“Team Apollos ako!”
“Team Peter ako!”
But Paul brought them back to the bigger picture.
Who is Paul?
Who is Apollos?
They are servants through whom God worked.
One planted.
Another watered.
But GOD gives the growth. 🌱
That changes the way we look at ministry.
Instead of asking:
“Sino ang mas magaling?”
Maybe we should ask:
“Paano ginagamit ng Diyos ang bawat isa para maabot at ma-build ang mga tao?”
Because not everyone has the same assignment.
Not everyone has the same field.
Not everyone has the same function.
Think about a fish, a bird, and a lion. 🐟🦅🦁
A fish is excellent in the water.
A bird belongs in the skies.
A lion is built for the land.
Now imagine putting a fish on land and telling it:
“Bakit hindi ka kasing galing ng lion?”
Or putting a bird in the water and saying:
“Bakit hindi ka marunong lumangoy tulad ng fish?”
Or telling the lion:
“Bakit hindi ka lumilipad tulad ng bird?”
That would be unfair.
They’re not designed for the same environment.
You cannot pressure a fish to walk like a lion.
You cannot pressure a bird to swim and dive deeper like a fish.
And you cannot pressure a lion to fly like a bird.
Different design.
Different environment.
Different function.
The same can be true in ministry.
An online preacher may have a grace to reach people through digital platforms.
A local pastor may have a grace to shepherd people closely within a community.
Someone may be gifted in teaching.
Someone else in evangelism.
Someone in discipleship.
Someone in pastoral care.
Someone in missions.
WE DON’T HAVE TO COMPARE WHAT GOD NEVER INTENDED TO BE IDENTICAL.
And I’m not against listening to online preachers.
I’ve done it myself.
I speak and equip people online, and at the same time, I continue to pastor and shepherd people through house churches.
And whenever I speak to people virtually, I always remind them:
“This should never be a substitute for being planted in a local church.”
Because online ministry can equip you from a distance.
But local church relationships give you a place to live out what you’re learning.
And here’s another thing we need to be careful about…
WHAT WE CONSUME ONLINE. 📱
Some content is created to catch your attention, keep you watching, and create a strong emotional response.
Minsan isang 30-second clip lang, sobrang powerful ng dating sa atin.
We feel something.
We get excited.
We think:
“Ito na! Ito yung word na kailangan kong marinig!”
But let’s slow down.
Huwag nating i-base ang buong walk of faith natin sa bawat short clip na napapanood natin sa social media.
A short clip can encourage you, but it may not give you the whole context.
A powerful statement can inspire you, but it doesn’t replace studying Scripture.
An emotional moment can move you, but our faith shouldn’t be built on emotions alone.
LET THE WORD OF GOD BE YOUR FOUNDATION—NOT THE ALGORITHM. 📖
Listen.
Learn.
Discern.
Study the Word.
Pray.
Be teachable.
Be equipped.
But STAY PLANTED. 🌱
Love your local church.
Honor your local pastor.
Appreciate the people who faithfully shepherd you.
Because there will be moments when your favorite online preacher is offline…
but your local pastor is still there.
When the livestream ends, there may still be someone who needs prayer.
Someone who needs follow-up.
Someone who needs counsel.
Someone who simply needs someone to listen.
That’s the reality of shepherding people up close.
And sometimes, you don’t realize how much your local pastor has been carrying until you are the one who needs them.
They don’t just preach on Sunday.
They walk with people Monday to Saturday too.
They carry people in prayer.
They disciple.
They counsel.
They visit.
They follow up.
They encourage.
They correct.
They celebrate.
And sometimes, they stay awake late at night because someone needs someone to talk to. 🥹
So this isn’t about choosing ONLINE over LOCAL, or LOCAL over ONLINE.
It’s about recognizing that God can use different people, in different places, with different assignments.
Some plant.
Some water.
But God gives the growth. 🌱
And ultimately, the One we are trying to gain is not a preacher.
Not a personality.
Not a platform.
Not a following.
IT IS CHRIST. ❤️
So don’t become Team Paul.
Don’t become Team Apollos.
Don’t become Team Peter.
And please…
huwag na tayong mag-away-away sa “Team Online” at “Team Local.” 😂
LET US BE TEAM JESUS. 🙏❤️
You may listen to hundreds of online preachers.
Learn from them.
Be encouraged by them.
Be equipped through them.
But don’t forget the pastor who has the opportunity to know you, walk with you, and shepherd you.
Because your favorite online preacher may be offline…
but your local pastor may still be there.
When the livestream ends…
your local pastor may still be answering your call.
When the video stops…
your local pastor may still be walking with you.
So…
STAY EQUIPPED ONLINE.
STAY PLANTED LOCALLY.
HONOR EVERY GOD-GIVEN ASSIGNMENT.
AND KEEP YOUR EYES ON JESUS. ✝️
Because when the screens are off…
JESUS IS STILL THE ONE WHO MATTERS.
“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.”
— 1 Corinthians 3:6 🌱
