🎾 “I had four chances to win the biggest title of my life—yet I came up short.”
That’s how Alex Eala, just 20, described her debut in the WTA final at Eastbourne on June 28, 2025. She fought through qualifying, defeated established stars, and became the first Filipina ever to reach a WTA singles final—a milestone in tennis history .

The match was epic: Eala stormed back from a set down, took the decider to a super-tiebreak, and even held four championship points at 10–6 ʻtil Maya Joint rallied, saving them all to seize the title 12–10 . It was 2 hours 26 minutes of pure determination and capacity to perform under pressure .
