At the heart of the annual Peñafrancia Festival in the Pilgrim City of Naga stands the Callejera image of Nuestra Señora de Peñafrancia. While the centuries-old original image remains enthroned in the Basilica Minore, the Callejera goes forth to meet her people. Borne on the shoulders of her devotees during the Traslación and is carried upon the waves in the Fluvial Procession. This image becomes the visible sign of a mother who leaves her throne to walk among her children. Year after year, it is through the Callejera that Inâ enters the streets and the river, reminding the faithful that her presence is not confined within stone walls, but is alive wherever her children call upon her with love and devotion.
