11x NA AKO NAG-KOREA… PERO MUNTIK PA AKONG MA-OFFLOAD?! 😭
So here’s what happened. You might have the same situation as mine. I have a valid multiple-entry Korean visa na valid pa until 2030. Ang catch? Nasa old passport siya. I had to renew my passport because wala nang available pages nung nag-apply ako for my Schengen visa. Since magre-renew na rin naman, I also took the opportunity to change my surname (married yarn). And hindi lang Korean visa ko ang nasa old passport — pati US visa ko and valid pa rin ito until 2028.
Now, for those wondering: YES, pwede pa rin gamitin ang visas kahit nag-renew ka ng passport, as long as valid pa ang visa and you bring your old passport containing the visa together with your new passport.
In fact, hindi naman ito ang first time na gagamitin ko ang visa ko on my old passport. Last April, ginamit ko na rin yung same Korean visa + new passport combination. Same process: maghihintay ka lang talaga ng “ok to board” from immigration.
BUT THIS TIME… BEH. ANG DAMING HININGI. 😭 Sa Clark Airport pa lang, na-question na ako nang bonggang-bongga. Pati CENOMAR hiningi.
Bakit naman ako magdadala ng CENOMAR sa travel, ‘di ba?
I was eventually allowed to board, pero pagdating ko sa Korea, hindi pa tapos ang adventure. SECOND INTERVIEW PA SA KOREAN IMMIGRATION. 😭 And one of the questions was basically: “Why are you traveling alone when you’re married?” BAWAL BA, BEH? 😂
Of course, I understand that immigration officers have to verify travelers and make sure everything is in order. So I’m not saying na mali sila for asking questions. But from a traveler’s perspective, sobrang hassle and nakakakaba kapag ang daming additional documents and questions, especially when you think everything is already straightforward.
📌 SO, WHAT’S THE BOTTOM LINE?
If you have a valid Korean visa in your old passport and you’ve already renewed your passport, you can still use the valid visa by bringing both your old passport (with the visa) + new passport.
BUT…
🚨 EXPECT EXTRA CHECKING.
🚨 EXPECT A LONGER IMMIGRATION PROCESS.
🚨 BRING SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS.
🚨 And most importantly, give yourself plenty of time at the airport.
In my case, the advice I received from PH Immigration was that it would be much better to just renew the Korean visa, based on the guidance they said they received from Korean Immigration. So if you’re in the same situation as me, yes, technically you may still be able to use that valid visa. BUT IS IT WORTH THE HASSLE? After today’s experience… I’d say, SAVE YOURSELF THE STRESS AND JUST RENEW IT. 😂
Sharing this not to scare anyone, but as a heads-up for fellow travelers who have valid visas in their old passports. Because apparently, even after 11 trips to Korea, may plot twist pa rin pala. 😂

UPDATE: Someone on threads told me I can just update my passport number sa account ko on the KR website. If you have a valid visa on your old passport and hindi ka naman nag-change ng surname, you can do this! But if you’re like me na nag-change ng surname, tara pa-renew na tayo. 😆
