We are people who have learned to endure,
to rebuild after every storm,
to smile through every hardship,
to stand even when the ground beneath us gives way.
But how long must we endure
what should never have been ours to suffer?
Our fellow Filipinos are fighting the waters,
while somewhere, those who were entrusted to protect us
sleep beneath dry roofs,
surrounded by the comfort bought with what was meant for the people.
They “solemnly swear” to serve the people.
They raise their hands.
They take their oath.
They promise to uphold their duty.
Yet somewhere along the way,
the promise became profit,
the duty became greed,
and the people became an afterthought.
This is not simply a “flood.”
This is not just a “natural disaster.”
We are being betrayed, not by strangers,
but by our fellow countrymen.
And that is what hurts the most.
Because we deserve leaders who hear our cries,
not those who profit from our suffering.
We deserve protection,
honesty,
justice,
and a government that remembers who it is meant to serve.
Filipinos deserve better.
We deserve better.
May the waters recede,
but may our courage remain.
May our anger become a fire for truth,
our voices become a call for justice,
and our pain become a reason to demand accountability.
And in the midst of everything we cannot control,
Lord, guide us.
Guide the families searching for safety.
Guide those who are rescuing and helping others.
Give strength to those who are suffering,
comfort to those who have lost so much,
and wisdom to those who are making decisions that affect our people.
Protect Pampanga.
Protect every Filipino facing this storm.
Give us strength when we are afraid,
I hope when we feel helpless,
and courage to stand for what is right.
Lord, guide our country.
Guide every Filipinos
Guide every Families.
And when our strength runs out, Lord, be our strength.
When fear overwhelms us, be our peace.
When the waters rise, be our refuge.
When we do not know what to do, be our guide.
Watch over every family tonight.
Protect those who are trapped, displaced, and afraid.
Give courage to those who are rescuing others,
and provide for those who have lost their homes and livelihoods.
