WILL THERE EVER BE ANOTHER LUNAD SA BALOD? Here is our official statement on the drownings at Buenavista, Gubat, Sorsogon, on the continued use of Buenavista Surf Camp even when we have been closed for over 2 years and also the reason why we are no longer able to have Lunad sa Balod after the pandemic. Hope this clarifies the issue. So sorry, everyone! 😞

Lunad sa Balod, a yearly competition organized by the Gubat Sorsogon Surf-riders Association (GSSA) is putting Sorsogon on the surfing map. Surfers from all over the nation headed to Gubat to surf and outdo each other with their surfing skills. Over the years it has not only attracted local surfers....

The third day of the Lunad Sa Balod National Surfing Competition had all of the best surfers of each division compete all the way to the Finals. The stormy weather didn't stop Neil Sanchez from taking to the skies and once again claiming the top spot at the Shortboard Mens Open.

Lunad Sa Balod 2019 | Day 2 Surf Highlights

The second day of the Lunad Sa Balod National Surfing Competition opened with the Mens & Womens longboard categories and the 2nd round for the mens open shotboard.

With more wahinis stepping up this year to compete, we hear from Donna Laganzo Estrellado of Buenavista, Ana Mae Alipayo of Siargao Is., and Vea Estrellado on their thoughts on the Lunad Sa Balod Surf Competition.

Lunad Sa Balod 2019 | Day 1 Surf Highlights

The first day of the Lunad Sa Balod National Surfing Competition began with the Mens Open and Grom Divisions after the opening ceremony.

Amongst the competitors, Jack Andy Efondo Johns, a local surfer of Gubat, Sorsogon, shares his dreams, thoughts on surfing, and his fellow competitors this year.
