Today, I didn’t edit a single video.

I spent hours with my laptop and notebook trying to answer one question:

Why should anyone spend a minute watching my content?

It sounds simple, but I don’t think I’ve ever asked myself that question this seriously.

I realized I don’t just want to post because I have something to share.

I want every story to leave someone with something useful to take home.

Today’s takeaway: Before creating more content, make sure there’s something worth taking home.

I used to think I had to solve every problem first before I could allow myself to enjoy life.

There are still responsibilities I’m working through, plans I’m trying to complete, and parts of life I’m slowly rebuilding.

But I’m learning that being responsible doesn’t mean I have to spend every day feeling guilty, anxious, or behind.

I can keep working, make better decisions, and face what needs to be faced, while still enjoying a quiet afternoon, going somewhere new, or giving myself a reason to look forward to tomorrow.

We only have one life. I don’t want to escape my responsibilities, but I also don’t want to postpone living until everything is finally perfect.

Maybe progress is not only about fixing what’s wrong. Sometimes, it’s also about refusing to lose yourself while you’re fixing it.

Mount Talinis looked peaceful that morning.

What this photo doesn’t show is the heavy rain, the difficult trail, and the night we spent inside our tents beside Lake Nailig.

Birds chirping, rain falling, and ferns covering almost every part of the trail.

The climb to Lake Yagumyum was muddy and tiring, but this part of Mount Talinis felt even more beautiful in person than this video could capture.

Ten years ago, I arrived in Myanmar alone with my travel funds almost drained after three weeks of backpacking through Thailand.

By the time I reached Hpa-an, there was no comfortable budget left. Every meal, ride, and place I visited had to be carefully considered.

These photos captured what I found there: limestone caves opening into the countryside, rows of seated Buddhas beneath the mountains, the unusual Kyauk Ka Lat Temple, and meals I can no longer name but still remember experiencing.

Finding these files again also made me look differently at the decisions I made back then.

Travelling with very little money may sound adventurous in hindsight, but I wouldn’t recommend it, especially when travelling alone. A separate emergency fund isn’t “extra money.” It’s what gives you options when transportation changes, you get sick, or something unexpected happens far from home.

The experience was worth remembering. Nearly running out of money wasn’t the part worth repeating.

These were taken in Hpa-an, Myanmar, around 2016. Now I’m searching through my old drives to see whether the videos survived too.

Because it's more than just a bus ride.

The route from San Carlos City to Bacolod via Don Salvador Benedicto is steep, curvy, and full of sharp turns. Grabe jud ang respeto nako sa mga bus driver nga moagi diri. Every curve takes skill, focus, and years of experience to navigate safely.

But every turn also comes with a different view. As someone who loves nature, I found myself looking outside the window more than reaching for my phone. The scenery along this route feels different from other parts of Negros, and that's what made this ride memorable for me.

I know long, winding bus rides aren't for everyone. But if you're someone who enjoys mountain landscapes and believes the journey can be just as rewarding as the destination, this is one bus ride I'd recommend experiencing. 🚌🌿

Part 1 brought us to Lake Yagumyum, but our Mount Talinis climb was far from over.

In the next episode, we continue through wet, steep sections of the trail where every step needed extra care, and anything sturdy enough became something to hold on to. 😅

Six hikers. Five first-time climbers. And still a long way to go.
