Franciscan student-athletes once again showcased excellence in sports as they delivered remarkable performances during the National PRISAA Games 2026 held from May 8–15, 2026 in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental — the “City of Smiles.”
The National Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) is one of the country’s largest sporting events for private educational institutions, gathering thousands of student-athletes from 17 regions nationwide to compete in various sporting disciplines while promoting excellence, discipline, camaraderie, and sportsmanship.
Representing the Negros Island Region (NIR) in athletics, Franciscan athletes proudly raised the banner of excellence through their outstanding achievements on the national stage.
Leading the secondary division was Ace Francis Bacongallo, who emerged as Champion in the Long Jump Event, demonstrating exceptional athleticism and determination against top competitors from across the country.
In the tertiary division, distance runner Evangelista Antonio Jr. delivered an impressive performance by winning the Gold Medal in the 5,000-Meter Run and securing the Silver Medal in the 10,000-Meter Run. His endurance, discipline, and perseverance highlighted the competitive spirit of Franciscan athletes.
Behind the success of the athletes was the dedicated coaching staff headed by Coach John Mark Calimot, with the assistance of Coach Kiko Leal and the invaluable support of Coach Enrique Besario. Their commitment, guidance, and tireless preparation greatly contributed to the athletes’ achievements throughout the prestigious competition.
The Franciscan community also extends its heartfelt gratitude to the school administration for its unwavering support to student development and athletics, to the parents for their encouragement and sacrifices, and to the Local Government Unit of Guihulngan City for its continued support and recognition of young athletes representing the city and the region on the national stage.
The remarkable accomplishments of the Franciscan athletes brought pride not only to the institution but also to the entire Negros Island Region. Their victories continue to inspire the Franciscan community to strive for excellence both in academics and athletics.
Congratulations to our student-athletes, coaches, parents, and supporters for bringing honor and glory to the Franciscan family at the National PRISAA 2026 Games.
