Pi-ous Formula Conquers the Cyber Quiz Bee 2025

On July 4, 2025, the Code Crusaders hosted the Cyber Quiz Bee at 11:18 a.m. right after the Nutrition Quiz Bee competition at Saint Mary Academy of Guindulman, Bohol, Inc.
It was a thrilling competition for all school clubs involved, with every contestant fighting hard for their team’s honor.
“The Pi-ous Formula” math club representatives Alyssa RG Penaso and Daben Saligumba Jr. from Grade 11 Mo. Cecilia, STEM strand stepped into the Cyber Quiz Bee with determination and stepped out as the champions.
The Brainy Duo stood tall among fierce competitors. They faced three rounds of intense computer-related questions and emerged victorious with a five-point lead in the final round, securing the first-place title.
Their journey wasn’t easy. At first, both were hesitant to join the competition. But with strong encouragement from their class adviser and club moderator, Sir Sancho Cagampang LPT, they decided to go for it—motivated by the desire to make him proud.
In an exclusive interview, Daben expressed his thoughts:
“Dako ug salig si Sir Sancho, maong gusto nako nga ma-proud siya,” he shared.Alyssa echoed his response, having the same reason.
They were chosen for a reason—and they took it seriously. Both said they were willing to join the contest despite their initial hesitance because they believed in each other, just as their adviser believed in them.
The two contestants didn’t want to let him down and they certainly didn’t.
The mathematical duo succeeded in their goal, bringing pride not just to their adviser, but to the entire Pi-ous Formula community.
When asked about their preparation, Daben and Alyssa admitted,
“Ga tuon mi last night.” Even with limited time, they made it count. Daben already had prior knowledge of the topics but still put in extra effort to prepare. Alyssa was just asdiligent, absorbing every bit of new knowledge that came her way.
They managed to balance school responsibilities, personal time, and quiz review, all while supporting each other as a team. Throughout the competition, they stayed laser-focused.
Alyssa helped keep their momentum strong, while Daben made sure they stayed on track. Their teamwork was truly the Pi-ous formula for success.
For both of them, representing the club wasn’t just about winning, but it was also about showing gratitude to the person who believed in them from the start. Both contestants were clearly motivated not just by the title, but by the experience of learning, growing, and proudly representing their club.
