PNP INTERCEPTS ₱9.4M SUSPECTED SMUGGLED CI******ES IN ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR

The Philippine National Police (PNP) intercepted an estimated ₱9.42 million worth of suspected smuggled ci******es during a checkpoint operation in Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur, on Monday night, August 10, 2026.

Personnel of the 902nd Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9, together with Tukuran Municipal Police Station, the Philippine Army, and the Bureau of Customs, recovered 60 master cases of suspected smuggled ci******es from a vehicle stopped at a boundary checkpoint in Barangay Militar.

A legal-age Filipino male was arrested in connection with the operation and brought to the Tukuran Municipal Police Station for proper disposition. The confiscated ci******es and vehicle were subsequently turned over to the Bureau of Customs in Pagadian City for appropriate action.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the interception highlights how police vigilance and close coordination with partner agencies can make a difference in preventing illicit goods from reaching the market.

“Maganda na naharang natin ito sa checkpoint pa lang. It shows that when our people stay alert and work closely with our partners, we can act before these goods reach the communities. Tuloy lang ang trabaho, pero laging may tamang proseso,” PGen Nartatez said.

PNP ACCOUNTS FOR 629 LOOSE FI****MS IN CALABARZON IN ONE MONTH

The Philippine National Police (PNP) accounted for 629 loose fi****ms in CALABARZON from July 10 to August 9, 2026, through police operations and voluntary surrender, helping keep undocumented fi****ms from possible misuse.

Of the total, 532 were classified as small arms and 97 as Class-A light weapons, based on regional data. The Regional Civil Security Unit 4A accounted for 167 fi****ms, followed by the Regional Forensic Unit 4A–Crime Laboratory with 150. The provincial police offices accounted for 95 in Cavite, 82 in Quezon, 59 in Batangas, 58 in Laguna, and 12 in Rizal, while the CIDG Regional Field Unit 4A accounted for six.

Police also recovered nine vehicles linked to various incidents, which remain under proper custody pending documentation and appropriate legal processes.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the accomplishment reflects the importance of sustained police presence and community cooperation in keeping fi****ms from being misused.

PNP STATEMENT ON SHOOTING INCIDENT INVOLVING POLICE PERSONNEL IN CAVITE

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is investigating a shooting incident involving police personnel and a civilian that occurred in Maragondon, Cavite, at around 1:30 a.m. on August 12, 2026.

The incident resulted in the death of two persons, including a police officer and a civilian, while another police officer was wounded and is currently in stable condition. The police officer involved in the incident is under police custody.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are still being established. The investigation, including the necessary forensic examination and other procedures, is ongoing.

The PNP reminds all personnel to strictly observe existing policies and procedures on firearm safety and handling, proper conduct, and the use of force. Police officers are expected to exercise discipline, restraint, and sound judgment at all times, whether on or off duty.

SIX LOOSE FI****MS SEIZED; SUSPECT FALLS IN QUEZON RAID

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested a man during the implementation of a search warrant that led to the seizure of six loose fi****ms in Sariaya, Quezon on August 10, 2026.

The operation was carried out by the CIDG Quezon Provincial Field Unit, Quezon 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), and Sariaya Municipal Police Station in Barangay Lutucan 1, Sariaya, Quezon.

Seized from the suspect were six unlicensed fi****ms consisting of a caliber .45 pistol, caliber 9mm pistol, caliber .22 rifle, caliber .22 revolver, 12-gauge shotgun, and an improvised caliber .380 firearm, along with magazines and ammunition.

The suspect was found in possession and control of the fi****ms without the required License to Own and Possess Fi****ms (LTOPF). The fi****ms were likewise not duly registered with the Fi****ms and Explosives Office (FEO), in violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Fi****ms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

“This accomplishment sends a clear message that possession of unlicensed and unregistered fi****ms will not be overlooked. We will keep pursuing individuals who disregard the law and pose a potential threat to the safety of our communities,” PGen Nartatez said.

“Ang pagkakaroon ng baril ay may kaakibat na pananagutan at pagsunod sa mga itinakdang batas. Mahigpit nating babantayan ang mga paglabag sa fi****ms law at kikilos tayo agad kapag may nakitang banta sa seguridad ng ating mga komunidad,” he added.

PNP SHIELDS COMMUNITIES FROM FIREARM RISKS AS 858 GUNS ARE VOLUNTARILY SURRENDERED

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is strengthening its preventive approach to firearm-related threats as police units in Western Visayas accounted for 858 fi****ms voluntarily surrendered by individuals from May 15 to July 31, 2026.

The fi****ms were turned over through the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) initiative known as Project R.T. T. (Restrict, Track, and Turn-in), which encourages individuals holding undocumented or improperly registered fi****ms to surrender them through lawful and non-coercive means.

Rather than waiting for illegally held fi****ms to surface in criminal investigations, the initiative allows police units to work with communities, local government units, and barangay officials to identify concerns involving unregistered or expired fi****ms and encourage their lawful disposition.

The largest number of surrendered fi****ms came from Iloilo, followed by Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo City, the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6, and Guimaras.

The accomplishment forms part of the PNP's continuing effort to prevent fi****ms from becoming instruments of violence and crime. THREE REGIONAL WANTED PERSONS FACING MURDER CASES ARRESTED IN ONE-DAY OPS

Three regional wanted persons were arrested in separate police operations in Agusan del Sur, Negros Occidental, and Surigao del Sur on Monday, August 10, 2026, as the Philippine National Police (PNP) continued its focused campaign to locate individuals with standing warrants of arrest.

In Esperanza, Agusan del Sur, police arrested a legal-age Filipino male listed as the No. 6 Most Wanted Person of PRO 13 in Barangay Guibonon. The operation was led by the 1304th Maneuver Company, RMFB 13, with the PNP Special Action Force and other intelligence and support units.

The suspect faces several cases of murder, attempted murder, and frustrated murder and is under the custody of the 1304th Maneuver Company, RMFB 13.

In Murcia, Negros Occidental, police arrested a legal-age Filipino male listed as the No. 9 Most Wanted Person of PRO Negros Island Region in Barangay Zone 2. The operation was conducted by the Murcia Municipal Police Station and the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office. The suspect faces a murder case and is under the custody of the Murcia Municipal Police Station.

Meanwhile, in Lianga, Surigao del Sur, police arrested a legal-age Filipino male listed as the No. 3 Most Wanted Person of PRO 13 in Barangay San Isidro. The operation involved the Barobo Municipal Police Station, Surigao del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company, Regional Intelligence Unit 13, PNP Special Action Force, and other security units.

The suspect faces multiple cases of murder, frustrated murder, and attempted murder and is under the custody of the Barobo Municipal Police Station.

CHINESE BUSINESSMAN ESCAPES KIDNAPPERS; 4 SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN PAMPANGA

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., secured the safety of a Chinese businessman and arrested four alleged kidnap-for-ransom suspects following anti-kidnapping operations in Pampanga on August 4, 2026.

The 37-year-old victim was forcibly taken by five armed men on August 2 along Friendship Highway in Angeles City, Pampanga, after a white van blocked his vehicle while he was leaving a supermarket parking area. He was then forced into the suspects’ vehicle and brought to an undisclosed location.

The PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP AKG) immediately took action after the victim’s younger sister filed a complaint on August 3 following repeated threats and ransom demands. During communications with the victim’s family, the suspects demanded USDT 1,000,000.00 in exchange for the victim’s release and threatened to harm him if the demand was not met within the specified period.

In the early hours of August 4, information emerged that the victim had escaped from captivity. PNP AKG operatives promptly validated the information and conducted extensive efforts to locate him, eventually securing the victim unharmed and free from serious injury.

With the victim safely secured, pursuit teams immediately worked to identify and locate those responsible for the kidnapping. The operation resulted in the arrest of three male and one female suspects, who were placed under the custody of the PNP AKG.

An inquest proceeding was conducted on August 5 before the Department of Justice in Manila in connection with the case for Kidnapping for Ransom and Serious Illegal Detention.

“We will not allow kidnapping groups to operate with impunity. Every lead will be pursued, and those responsible will be made to face the consequences of their actions,” PGen Nartatez said.

“Mahalaga sa atin ang kaligtasan ng biktima. Sa bawat ganitong insidente, gagawin natin ang nararapat upang maprotektahan ang buhay at mapanagot ang mga gumagawa ng krimen,” he added.

PNP ARRESTS U.S. NATIONAL SUBJECT OF WARRANT ISSUED IN CALIFORNIA

The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested a 45-year-old U.S. national who is the subject of an outstanding warrant issued in Sacramento, California, during an operation in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

The individual was located at a lodging establishment in Barangay Calindagan, Dumaguete City and was taken into police custody based on the outstanding warrant related to a parole violation.

The arrested individual is temporarily under the custody of the Dumaguete City Police Station for proper disposition and coordination with the appropriate authorities.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the PNP will continue to act on valid warrants while ensuring that every person is treated fairly and that established legal procedures are observed.
