Entering the office of the Schools Division Superintendent of SDO-Himamaylan City, one would find a portrait of a faรงade that mirrors the future of what the division office would look like: a state-of-the-art design, a building that speaks both of grandeur and humility. In front of this image, sits another portrait that also reflects the future of the schools division. This portrait is a woman, painted with shades beyond one's mere sight. She is painted with courage and purpose making her transcend from what is usual.

Ma'am Gladys is painted with her belief in purpose, and every day she shows this with agape and courage. The way she treats her fellow DepEd employees, and even the stakeholders, speaks of this viewpoint. Whenever she empowers, inspires, and involves people, one can see her conviction that each one has a role to play in creating a better society.

Her journey as an individual is a testimony that Ma'am Gladys is a portrait that is both larger-than-life and modest. Her perspectives cause her to be painted as someone genuinely brave, purpose-driven, and motherly. Like a portrait signed by an artist, Ma'am Gladys as a "masterpiece" is obviously signed by God's love. This may be the reason why talks with this portrait of a woman would normally feel like a conversation over coffee or an engagement with your comfort morning show, making you feel no less than the first four letters of her name.

The composite team headed by Mr. Mark Lloyd Coloma emphasized to the scouts the international initiative that focuses on going green with environmental education and outdoor ethics, Leave No Trace, today, April 1, at Camp Himaya.

In this initiative, the team led the scouts to understand the Leave No Traceโ€™s seven principles: planning and preparing, traveling and camping on durable surface, disposing waste properly, leaving what one finds, minimizing campfire impacts, respecting wildlife, and being considerate to other visitors.

The endeavor gave the scouts opportunities to apply these principles through outputs that are uploaded to the initiativeโ€™s official website.
Inculcating awareness on the present situation of the environment, and not to be confused with the Clean and Green Movement, the Leave No Trace movement centered on outdoor activities only.

โ€œAs Kab Scouts, do a good turn every day, share happiness to those who are sad. May it be young or old, we must know how to make them happy,โ€ Analyn Dela Cruz, CML, emphasized to the scouts during the Kawan expedition, Friday afternoon, March 31 at Camp Himaya.

Kawans explored the five stations during the expedition starting with Station 1 where the scouts performed a Tiktok dance to the Fairy, followed by the Station 2 where they showcased their talents in singing the Alphabet song and counting of numbers to the Witches. In Station 3, the scouts sang to make the Giant sleep; in Station 4, the Dog asked them to search for the things to offer to the King; and lastly, in Station 5, scouts did things to make the Queen happy.

โ€œI enjoyed because we have to follow a trail. I learned that if you have adventure, you have friends too. And the adventure was exciting and we meet a lot of things,โ€ John Immanuel G. Miguel, Kab Scout from Himamaylan Central School, said after he triumphantly finished the expedition.

The activity reminded and challenged the Scouts to perform goodness dailyโ€”be it at school, at home, in the community, or anywhere else.
