๐—Ÿ๐—ข๐—ข๐—ž | The two Campus Student Council (CSC) officer candidates, Himbon and Likas-Bayanihan Party List, clashed in the grand rally and election day this morning, April 25, in the West Visayas State University-Himamaylan City Campus Gymnasium.

This was the inaugural Campus Student Council election at WVSU-HCC after the Covid-19 pandemic, where two parties contended for the title of student leader.

The two parties discussed their platforms and purpose in an effort to garner the opinions of the students; each defended their place to earn a berth.

During the election, the Campus Student Electoral Committee (CSEC), under the leadership of Chairperson Adrian Caceres, along with volunteers from various organizations, worked together to ensure that the voting process proceeded smoothly.

Through providing a platform for students to enhance their leadership skills, the Campus Student Council (CSC) seeks to lay a foundation for harmony and collaboration among peers. Along with instilling in them the values and tenets of participatory democracy, it also aims to prepare students to be better members of society.| via Stephen Gayola

The three-day International Youth and Congress Leadership Camp, hosted by Philippine Normal University Visayas-Cadiz City in partnership with West Visayas State University-HCC, concluded yesterday, April 21.

The event served as a platform for student leaders and youth leaders, both internationally and nationally, to partake in a series of enriching activities, workshops, and sessions, both on-site and online.

10 accredited organizations from WVSU-HCC participated in the camp with their representatives, including the Campus Student Council (CSC), KASANAG, TalaSipnayan, Young Educators League (YEL), Himamaylan English and Literature Learners Organization (HELLO), Kapisanan ng mga Mag-aaral sa Filipino (KAMFIL), Cyber Student Institute (CSI), 3S Society, Association of Young Hoteliers (AYHO), and AWANA Youth.

The first and last days included series of talks on the topic of "Data-Driven Leadership for Sustainable Youth Initiatives," which was shared by Dr. Donne Jone P. Sodusta and talked about the importance of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to understand the needs, challenges, and preferences of people before making decisions or projects, as well as the impact of various interventions. It was then followed by the discussion of Mr. Ovais Sultan Khan about "Youth's Role in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals" and Mr. Kevin G. Gaitan about "Youth Project Development Models." The last day covered topics such as "Empowering Youth as Agents of Change in Promoting Gender Equality" by Ms. Theint Wut Yee Khaing and "Youth-led Projects in Bridging Educational Divide" by Dr. Richa Bansal.

Interactive elements were woven throughout the camp to foster meaningful engagement and collaboration among participants. Group discussions, Q&A sessions, and activities provided opportunities for attendees to share their perspectives, exchange ideas, and develop practical skills. These interactive sessions encouraged active participation and facilitated team-to-team learning, enhancing the overall learning experience for everyone involved.

The Cultural Night in the evening of April 20 added a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere to the event. On-site participants wore traditional and ethnic costumes; Barong Tagalog and Filipiniana, representing the rich diversity of culture within the community. This program did not only celebrate cultural heritage but also provided a platform for youth leaders to express their advocacies and creativity specifically, during the Mx. IYCLC 2024.

Overall, the International Youth and Congress Leadership Camp offered a dynamic and enriching experience for participants, empowering them with valuable insights, skills, and connections to drive positive change in their communities and beyond.| via Hannarey Japitana
