The Greenland/Ang Lupanlunti, Esteban Jalandoni Farm School's official school publication conducted a campus journalism training on January 9 at EJFS-Main.
Members of the Editorial Staff of the school publication participated in the training as part of its preparation for the 2026 Division Schools Press Conference, the Olympics of journalism.
EJFS-Main principal Mr. Jesus V. Chavez requested the Journalism Training Team of Unicorns Training Center, a specialty review center for mathematics, science and journalism to conduct the training.
The school will be participating in the different writing and non-writing events of the DSPC such as the news, sports, column, editorial, science and technology, and feature writing; editorial cartooning and copyreading and headline writing.
Hinigaran SB Member and Committee on Education Chairman Mart Gayares, former Editor-in-Chief of "The Scholar/Ang Iskolar", of the Negros Occidental National Science High School administered the training while Engr. Rona G. Gayares handled the senior high school joining in the GRACE Review Program.
This is the third year of The Greenland's partnership with the Unicorns Training Center in journalism which produced champions in sports writing in the 2025 event.
"we're optimistic that we can fare well again in this year's edition, we have many potential winners in our field of talents this year", said Mrs. Jenifer Blanco, the school publication adviser.
"We're very thankful for this opportunity", added Mrs. Jackie Rose Vingno of the Lupanlunti adviser.
Both school paper advisers facilitated the training which gained positive support and appreciation from parents and teachers of EJFS.
The Journalism Training is under the umbrella of the GRACE Review Program (Guiding and Readying Aspirants for College Education), a youth empowerment program of the LGU of Hinigaran under the leadership of Mayor Mary Grace Arceo and VM Jose Nadie Arceo.
GRACE Review is a flagship program of the Arceo administration in support to education especially helping the senior high school in passing the college admission test and scholarship qualifying exams such as the DOST.
A brainchild of SB Mart Gayares, the program attracted and benefited thousands of students and hundreds of campus journalists through the years.
Pontevedra National High School will host the 2026 DSPC on January 30.
