Ink, Excellence, and Farewell

They stepped into the newsroom clutching fresh notebooks and brimming with eagerness, slowly evolving from wide-eyed students into the very voice and backbone of our publication. Every line they wrote, every layout they finished, and every deadline they beat became a permanent part of our shared history.

Leading this exceptional batch was Risha Joy F. Calaurian, Magna Cum Laude and Batch Valedictorian—sharp, disciplined, and devoted to every duty, proving brilliance shines equally in the classroom and the newsroom. Next stood Jamie T. Sumalinog, Magna Cum Laude and Batch Salutatorian, whose quiet wisdom and steady work set the benchmark for everyone to follow. Katrina Joy E. Sumalinog, Cum Laude, moved with grace and precision, showing us how to wear academic honors while pouring full heart into every story.

Alongside them stood the talents that defined our identity: Erwin A. Seraño, always reliable and thorough; Ana Marie Eliosa U. Cabasa, whose writing carried depth and soul; Noren M. Cruzada, hardworking and ever-ready to serve; Rex B. Tabaranza, creative mind spotting angles others missed; Rachelle E. Gomez, meticulous and consistent in every detail; Pinky P. Beloy, warm and sincere in every word; and Blessy Majesty J. Gambito, who blossomed from a quiet learner into a confident leader.

This space became more than an office—it became home. They pulled all-nighters, debated fiercely over stories, laughed through the pressure, and taught us that journalism is truly about truth, service, and heart. When they finally hung up your press IDs, the desks fell quiet, yet their legacy stayed etched in ink, sealed with excellence, and held forever in our memory.

To the Graduate Staff members of Green Paradise of Batch 2025-2026—thank you. You penned your chapters beautifully. Now go forth and let the world see you shine.

Congratulations, graduates!

𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗦 𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 | Soaring Twice as High: Llait's Golden Leap

For many athletes, reaching the pinnacle of the podium is a defining moment. For John Aljen Llait of Southern Leyte State University-Hinunangan Campus, it has become a ground he continues to surpass.

At the recently concluded SCUAA Regional Games 2026, Llait once again cemented his name in the record books, clinching the gold medal in the triple jump event. It was not a plain victory—it was a reaffirmation of dominance. This extraordinary feat marks his second time exceling in the same field, solidifying his reputation as one of the region’s athletic forefronts.

The triple jump, a technically demanding event that blends speed, rhythm, and explosive power, leaves little room for inconsistency and errors. Yet amidst this, Llait executed with precision under pressure, demonstrating the composure of a mighty kingfisher. Each phase, hop, step, and jump reflected not only physical preparation but also commendable mental discipline honed through intensive training.

His recent triumph builds upon standout athletic credentials. Just a year prior, Llait carried the banner of Southern Leyte State University onto the bigger stage, bringing pride at the national level in the National SCUAAA. Reflecting on his historic win, he said, "𝘕𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘢𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢 𝘶𝘨 𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘢𝘨𝘪 𝘴𝘢 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘬𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘰𝘯 𝘶𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘢𝘫𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨.” Competing against the country’s best, Llait demonstrated that his athletic prowess extends far beyond regional competition.

Behind the medals and recognition was Llait’s story of persistence. Like many athletes, his path was not without thorns and obstacles. “𝘔𝘢𝘨𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘶𝘩𝘰𝘥 𝘶𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘬𝘰 𝘬𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮 𝘣𝘢 𝘬𝘰 𝘶𝘨 𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘢 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯,” he said. Balancing academic expectations and athletic rigor is an arduous task to juggle. Yet Llait persevered through all of this.

For the Hinunangan Campus and the broader SLSU community, Llait’s achievement is a source of immense pride. More than awards, he represents the potential of student-athletes who balance academic responsibilities with the demands of competitive sports.

Winning once is unarguably memorable, but seizing the top twice speaks of legacy. Llait’s reclaiming of dominance carries a deeper meaning, not just a back-to-back victory but also validation of what consistency and growth can do.

“𝘎𝘢𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘸 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘬𝘰 𝘯𝘨𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘬𝘶𝘩𝘢 𝘨𝘪𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘰𝘯 𝘯𝘢𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘢𝘭𝘺𝘢 𝘣𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘯 𝘱𝘢 𝘬𝘶𝘴𝘰𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘬𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘢," he said, proving that success loses none of its sweetness, even when achieved again.
