On August 14, 2025, at 8:00 AM, the School of Midwifery held its departmental orientation at the amphitheater, 2nd floor of the CAHS building. The event warmly welcomed students and provided essential information for the upcoming academic year.

The orientation featured significant discussions led by the faculty of the SOM department together with special speakers. Ms. Frances Ivy C. Valdez, GAD Representative, opened the session by emphasizing the importance of gender and development awareness, reminding students to value inclusivity and respect in both their academic journey and clinical practice. Following her, Ms. Zyrene C. Sawit, JD, the Campus Registrar, delivered an informative talk on academic policies and procedures.

She highlighted student responsibilities regarding enrollment, records management, and compliance with university regulations. Finally, Ms. Cherry Ann Sansano, the Clinical Coordinator of the School of Midwifery, provided vital guidance on Related Learning Experience (RLE), stressing professionalism, preparedness, and the significance of hands-on training in clinical settings.

Through their messages, the speakers equipped the students with knowledge that will serve as a foundation for success in both classroom and clinical environments, setting the tone for a productive and meaningful semester ahead.

Facilitated by the current MCAS officers under the supervision of the School of Midwifery instructors, the event aimed to elect a new set of officers for Academic Year 2025โ€“2026. A total of ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ“ students from Level 1 to Level 3 participated in the voting, casting their ballots in a smooth, quiet, and orderly process.

The election came after a spirited morning campaign, where the two contending partylists, ๐Œ.๐Ž.๐•.๐„ and ๐”๐’๐€๐ƒ presented their platforms through speeches and campaign materials. Despite the competitive nature of the race, the atmosphere during voting remained calm and respectful, reflecting the professionalism of both candidates and voters.

Following the close of polls, the tallying of votes immediately took place.

On August 8, 2025, the School of Midwifery's junior and sophomore students, led by the Midwifery Civic Action Society (MCAS), took part in a Clean-Up Drive as a preparation for the opening of classes on Monday, helping guarantee a seamless and friendly beginning to the new school year. The students collaborated to clean and arrange several important places within and around the school under the direction and supervision of their instructors and advisers.

Among these was the CAHS Building's second floor, which has multiple classrooms for midwifery and health-related courses. The Barangay Health Station, the ISU Birthing Center, a crucial facility for clinical learning and maternal care, and the MCGI BRead Tambayan, a common rest space where students may unwind and mingle, were also included in the Clean-Up Drive.

The activity went beyond a simple clean-up, reflecting the studentsโ€™ teamwork, sense of responsibility, and commitment to maintaining a clean and conducive learning environment.

We extend our appreciation to all who participated and contributed their time and effort to make this endeavor a success. Your dedication reflects the true spirit of service and excellence that defines the School of Midwifery.
