Gone too soon 🕊️
I can still clearly remember how Meteor Garden made a colorful impact on my teenage life. It was the summer of 2003 when it first aired on free TV through . Their appearance at the time was unique, and the plot itself was also distinct. Shan Cai, the female protagonist played by , portrayed a strong-willed, poor girl who, with all her might, was willing to protect herself, her family, and her friends against the wealthiest members of society. That was when the image of a not-so-boyish yet strong girl became an idolized character for many young girls—including me.
It is undeniable that before the era dominated by social media, Meteor Garden was the show that brought excitement after a tiring and challenging day at school—or even at work for some adults.
I would cry whenever I missed an episode. I bought every piece of merchandise I could afford with the little money I had. They completely captured my mind and heart.
Thank you, Barbie. You never met me, but you gave me wonderful memories by portraying the protagonist I always dreamed of being.
