Today, as the world watches in sorrow and disbelief, cries for justice rise from the ruins of Palestine. Homes lie in dust, families have been torn apart, and even children who had barely begun to live rest beneath the chaos.

Silence is no longer an option. To remain silent is to let the cries of the innocent fade into dust. The world must speak, must feel, must stand.

We stand with Palestine, not out of hate, but out of love. Love for justice, for peace, and for every child who deserves to wake up to laughter instead of the sound of bombs.

Their struggle is not merely political, it is a human story that demands compassion and action. History will remember where we stood.

From the mountains to the sea, we carry our roots with pride and honor the people who keep them alive.

The Philippines is woven by the colorful threads of the Indigenous people. For as long as the islands have existed, the Indigenous people have spun stories as old as the archipelago itself. Long before the cities and modern buildings were built, they nurtured the soil, shaped the mountains, and lived in harmony with the land and sea.

For centuries, these communities have cared for the earth, safeguarded traditions, and endured the weight of oppression since the Spanish colonization. Yet through it all, they have persisted โ€” resisting, adapting, and reimagining their way of life. Their courage and resilience continue to breathe life into our culture, keeping the essence of the Filipino spirit alive across generations.

Through Proclamation No. 1906, s. 2009, October is declared as National Indigenous Peoples Month, to honor and respect these communities not just for enduring hardships, but also for the beauty and bravery they continue to embody.

As we celebrate this month, may we go beyond admiration and move toward understanding. Let us engage in meaningful experiences that deepen our appreciation of their heritage and acknowledge their role as the bedrock of our nationโ€™s identity. With this yearโ€™s theme, โ€œWeaving Culture, Enriching Future: Empowering Indigenous Communities as Bedrock of Sustainable Development,โ€ we are reminded that genuine progress springs from respect, inclusion, and cultural preservation โ€” the very foundations of a sustainable and just future.

They nurtured our land and preserved our culture; now itโ€™s our turn to help shape the future they deserve. Happy National Indigenous Peoples' Month!

๐—œ๐—ก ๐—ฃ๐—›๐—ข๐—ง๐—ข๐—ฆ | Fresh Look of Learning: Renovated MSUโ€“IIT Libraries Unveiled

MSU-IIT takes another leap forward in delivering quality academic services as its newly renovated university libraries were officially inaugurated on October 2, 2025. The CASS Library, Main Library, and IDS Library now boast modern, sophisticated, and culturally inspired designsโ€”spaces envisioned to foster learning, collaboration, and creativity among IITians.

The turnover event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony and guided tours, highlighting the librariesโ€™ upgraded and functional layouts. Notable additions include soundproof collaboration rooms and redesigned study areas, crafted to support both focused research and group learning.

โ€œI do hope our student community sees thisโ€ฆ ingon ani kanamo ka palangga ang entire community,โ€ Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan expressed in his message of acceptance, underscoring that the improvements were made with students at the heart of the initiative and assuring the community of continuous progress ahead.

With the doors now open, IITians can finally enjoy and maximize the enhanced library facilitiesโ€”modern spaces that promise to shape academic growth and enrich the campus experience for years to come.

๐˜›๐˜๐˜Œ ๐˜ž๐˜ˆ๐˜“๐˜“๐˜š

My mother chose a light green wallpaper covered in flowers. I used to count the flowers to pass the time. When that wasnโ€™t enough, Iโ€™d count the petals. When that still wasnโ€™t enough, Iโ€™d count the lines.

To be alive is to hurt. To be 13 is to hurt more. I count petals in intervals of 13. He loves me. He loves me not. I do not count the lines I draw on my skin. He loves me not. He loves me not.

The corner of the wallpaper was peeling. A strip of green has been entirely torn off. The flowers are prettier to look at. There is nothing wrong with this.

๐˜›๐˜๐˜Œ ๐˜š๐˜ž๐˜Œ๐˜ˆ๐˜›๐˜Œ๐˜™

My favorite sweater was green. The edges frayed and it was covered in stains unknown. The sweater stayed on through the summer heat. A storm raged throughout the year. The sleeves covered the marks lightning left.

To be alive is to burn. To be 14 is to be anger incarnate. My body has always run hotter than most. I seek the cold like a moth to a flame. Still, I kept it on.

The only thing protecting the world from me was a worn-out piece of green cotton fabric. With every piece of thread snagged, my limits were pushed. I could have set the world on fire.

๐˜›๐˜๐˜Œ ๐˜™๐˜–๐˜š๐˜ˆ๐˜™๐˜

My grandmother gifted me a glow-in-the-dark rosary back in elementary school. It lit up in an eerie green color when the lights were off. I wrapped it around my wrist, covering those unerasable lines.

To be alive is to want. To be 17 is to drown in desire. I remember kneeling on the cathedral pews, drunk on things I should not have drank. As the choir sang, I begged whoever was listening to show me a sign that my life would not stay like this.

The beads burned in a way that cuts did not. With every Hail Mary and Our Father, I prayed for a turnover, a second chance. I could've done better. I could do better. Let me do better.

๐˜›๐˜๐˜Œ ๐˜—๐˜“๐˜ˆ๐˜•๐˜›

My childhood dream was to have a garden. In my childhood, I sunk the first seed, plucked from an unknown plant, into the ground. I watched as the first green leaf sprouted. I watched as my grandmother plucked it from its place in the pot.

To be alive is to mourn. To be 10 is to learn what anguish means. It wasn't meant to live. It wouldn't have survived there. From a young age, I've always felt more like evidence than person. Me, the proof of sin. Me, what should have never happened.

The soil lies fertile but acts barren. Every seed planted becomes fertilizer from the absence of care. I am your negligent gardener. Let me lie with you and I shall never wish to leave.

๐˜›๐˜๐˜Œ ๐˜‹๐˜™๐˜๐˜•๐˜’

My go-to drink is matcha. Although my family recoils at the taste of it, I love it. I love the refreshing grassy taste of that green concoction. Even when it was so difficult to find a consistently good cup, I loved it regardless.

To be alive is to take. To be 16 is to want it all. I've never been particularly picky about the taste of my drinks. I sip and swallow until all that's left is ice.

The bitter, the milk, the earthโ€”I take it all. Let it fill me up, let it paint the linings of my stomach as green as grass. The good, the badโ€”I want it all; I'll take it all.

๐˜›๐˜๐˜Œ ๐˜™๐˜๐˜‰๐˜‰๐˜–๐˜•

My lanyard is a tranquil blue. The ribbon pinned on it is sage green. What no one tells you is how, sometimes, old colors get new meanings.

To be alive is to hope. To be 19 is to keep going. I remember sitting in a circle of my friends, a roll of ribbon in hand. Snip. Twist. Pin. Again and again, until hundreds fill up the basket we surround. It takes more than a pair of hands. It takes conversations and good music playing in the background.

The old hurts don't just disappear. Instead, they are soothed. The ribbon roll unrolls and finds its way to you who reads. Sometimes, green is an illness, a warning sign. Now, I see that it can also be something else. It can be a renewal. It can be growth. It can be a reminder of support, just waiting around the corner with golden safety pins in hand. It can be hope.

And hoping is an act that brings constant grief, but we keep on living regardless.

Giputos sa imong kamot nga naga-ampo.

Namatikdan nako
