Iligan City, Lanao del Norte โ The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) Iligan City Field Office has expanded its community services and reinforced its presence in the region, following the Re-appointment of its new provincial head, Princess Almera D. Lucman, in January 2025.
As the newly designated director, Lucman has brought renewed focus and direction to the office, which serves as a key link between the national government and the Muslim communities of Iligan and surrounding areas. Her leadership has been marked by active collaboration with local government units (LGUs), civil society organizations, and religious leaders to ensure that public services remain responsive and culturally inclusive.
Expanded Programs and Key Services
Under Lucmanโs administration, the NCMF Iligan Field Office has prioritized several core programs, including:
Civil Documentation Assistance โ Assisting constituents in securing legal documents such as birth certificates, marriage contracts, and certificates of conversion to Islam.
Halal Certification and Enterprise Support โ Promoting Halal compliance among local businesses and supporting Muslim entrepreneurs.
Education and Cultural Advocacy โ Strengthening Madrasah education and promoting Islamic cultural heritage through partnerships with schools and communities.
Peacebuilding and Development Initiatives โ Facilitating programs that foster interfaith dialogue, social cohesion, and inclusive community development.
Stronger Community Engagement
To foster closer relationships with constituents, the office has conducted regular consultations and outreach programs aimed at grassroots engagement.
โWe want to make the NCMF more accessible, more inclusive, and truly representative of the aspirations of our Muslim brothers and sisters,โ Director Lucman said.
Future Directions
With rising demands for government support and representation, the NCMF Iligan Field Office is gearing up to expand its outreach activities, launch initiatives focused on youth and women empowerment, and strengthen its partnerships with educational and religious institutions.
The ongoing revitalization of the NCMF Iligan office stands as a testament to the agencyโs commitment to serve as a reliable voice, bridge, and support system for Muslim Filipinos in Northern Mindanao and beyond.(Roxette Yahya)
