Bouncing back from last yearโs limited medal run, the Iloilo Doctors' College โ Basic Education Department (IDC-BED) Junior Medics emerged victorious as they took silver in the Elementary and bronze in the Secondary category during the two-day track competitions of the Iloilo Private Schools Athletic Association (ILOPRISAA) 2026, held at the Iloilo Sports Complex from August 15 to 16.
Competing in the 100M Dash, 400M Dash, 800M Run, 1500M Run, and relay events, the Junior Medics secured multiple podium finishes.

Taking the lead, Junior Medics Carlyle Anthony Galaez sprinted to claim the gold medal in the 400M Dash, with The Great International School (TGIS) Iron Clad Tigers taking the silver and bronze.
Galaez maintained his position as the Iron Clad Tigers narrowed the gap, then applied the pacing technique taught by his coach, adjusting his effort through each curve to widen the distance in the latter half of the race.
โGin buligan ko lang siya nga ma-enhance pa gid siya kag madasig iya dalagan kag ga cooperate siya sa tanan nga gina tudlo ko, amo na na-achieve namon ang gold medal,โ expressed Coach Antonio Tinanbunan.

Landing a third-place finish, Junior Medics representative Julio Pio Saludes for 100M Dash and Kylie Kate Babon for 400M Dash raced their way onto the podium as bronze medalists.
Saludesโ mother shared that her son observes his opponents before he unleashes his speed on the track and during the race, turning his observations into a strategy for victory.
โGin-explain lang sa iya ni coach [Antonio Tinanbunan] kung ano himuon ya and then nag-observe man siya. Gapahimuyong siya hay ga-observe siya [gali],โ said Liza Marie Saludes, mother of Julio.

Grinding through the Central Philippine University (CPU) Golden Lionsโ dominance in the secondary boys track and field events, the Junior Medics refused to leave empty-handed, garnering three bronze medals as Vince Terell Lava placed third in both 800M and 1500M Runs, while Zac Arthur Ignacio settled third in the 100M Dash.
Backed by more than a decade of championship experience, CPU Coach Nathan John Villar attributed their continued success to years of established training and the athletesโ natural talentโdespite limited preparation for this season.
โSince more than 10 years na [kami] ga-champion, gin dala [na lang] namon ang training from previous years [kag] may innate talent naman ang team,โ explained Villar.

Handing off the baton through teamwork, the Junior Medics track elementary boys pound bronze in 4x100M and 4x400M Relay and in โMost Medaledโ in the finals round.
Carlyle Anthony Galaez of IDC-BED highlighted the coordination exerted during their individual stint per track, with Julio Pio Saludes closing the gap in between University of San Agustin (USA) in a silver pack.
"Gin-follow ko lang ang mga simple workoutsโstretching, jogging, kay tam-an ka lip-ot ang preparation pero atleast [biskan paano], may result kami nakita sa short period of time," asserted Tinanbunan.

Exchanging trust along the track, the Junior Medics secondary track boys stamped bronze and were awarded as โMost Medaledโ in the 1x400M and 4x400M in relay, marking the end of their run for this year's ILOPRISAA athletics meet.
Victor Solinap, ILOPRISAA 2025 gold medalist alumni athlete, molded the team in a span of just a month of consistent training, setting standards in strategy and in character inside and outside the track.
โKulang ang speed ni Vince, [kay] ang last leg nila, beterano ngadaanโkag amo na man ang na kuntra ko [last year]. Indi lang dalagan ang gin tudlo ko, pati ang structure [sang pagka-athlete] sa sagwa sang track,โ said Solinap.
