Continued marcotting chico
Marcotting a fruit tree like chico needs proper preparation of the needed materials, implement procedure and consider the following marcotting tips.
Materials needed:
1. marcotting soil free from fungus and not contaminated
2. sterilized marcotting knife
3. coconut husk flakes
4. strips of straw for tying
5. piece of clean plastic for wrapping the marcot
Procedure:
1. Identify a healthy chico stem to be marcotted.
2. Find a vacant portion of the stem to be scratched more or less one inch.
3. Peel the more or less one inch length part of the branch to be marcotted. Scratch until the slimy or slippery portion is gone.
4. Lay the plastic on your palm, put the flaked coconut husk, then put the soil at the center.
5. Let it cling or tuck at the scratched portion while holding tightly.
5. Put a tie very tightly on both ends.
6. Check if the marcot clung well by checking through turning it around.
7. If it is not turning around, then you may leave it and check after one month if it has roots.
8. If the roots look yellowish, then it can be cut and planted in a pot with a good planting soil.
