Earth’s oxygen comes from the ocean – not trees.

Forests and rainforests are often called the “lungs of the Earth,” but they’re not the primary source of the oxygen we breathe. Some estimates suggest they contribute around 28% of the global oxygen supply.

The real champions are phytoplankton – microscopic organisms that float near the ocean’s surface and use sunlight to produce oxygen through photosynthesis, much like plants on land. These tiny marine organisms generate at least 50% of Earth’s oxygen, making the ocean a true powerhouse of planetary respiration.

It’s also important to note that much of the oxygen we breathe today comes from a long-term reservoir in the atmosphere – built up over hundreds of millions of years by both land plants and ocean life.

So next time you take a deep breath, remember: it’s not just the trees; it’s the vast, blue engine of life covering most of our planet. 💙

The Legacy of Cabalfin

In the heart of home, where love runs deep,
Where dreams were sown and vows we keep,
Lives a story strong, proud and grand—
The roots and rise of the Cabalfin clan.

Custodio Jr., with calloused hands,
Drove his jeep across the land.
Each turn of the wheel, each journey long,
Was for his children to grow up strong.

Amalia, gentle, wise, and kind,
Held the home with a steadfast mind.
A housewife’s strength, quiet but true,
Built the world we all came through.

From humble means, with hearts so wide,
We rose with grit and family pride.
Now I sail seas, a seafarer’s life,
With courage strong, for child and wife.

My brother, too, now sails the tide,
With winds of honor at his side.
While sister, in white, so calm, so sure,
Heals the world with hands so pure.

The fruits of labor, love, and grace,
Bloom in every time and place.
And now a light, so sweet and new,
Shines through our days—Mathew, too.

His laughter bright, his smile so wide,
He is joy we hold with pride.
For all we are, and all we’ve been,
Forever strong—the Cabalfin.
