Surviving the Bar Exams, one of the toughest exams in the PH, requires some prep. Here are my must-haves:
โ
Chocolates/Candies - They were really a big help. Whenever I felt hypoglycemic, I ate them. Big help gid!
โ
White Flower - Big help also because I only slept for 3-4 hours (I couldn't sleep. My target was 8
hours gid). I tended to be drowsy and sleepy (Big No no). It can help you stay awake and relaxed!
โ
Bottled Coffee and Gatorade - Bar examinees need a lot of energy for critical thinking and problem-solving (Remember, our answers are in the form of essay. There are many factors to consider: Format, grammar, punctuations, choice of words, logic, etc)
โ
Water - We need to hydrate ourselves, but not too much, as you'll urinate frequently, which isn't good, especially if the comfort room is far from the testing room.
โ
Handheld fan - I'm thankful I brought this. While waiting in line to enter the testing site or waiting for the bell to go inside the room, I studied in the hallway, and it was so hot. This fan helped me focus on my last-minute readings
โ
Medicines (anti-diarrhea, anti-allergy, anti-anxiety, paracetamol, etc.) - Just in case
โ
Reliable Laptop with charger - Make sure your laptop and charger won't malfunction while taking the exams (Time is Gold!)
โ
Jacket with hood - I wore a jacket without a hood on the first day, and unfortunately, the air conditioner was at my back. I was cold, and the air blew at my back and neck, disrupting my concentration. had bodyache the next day. I learned my lesson and used a jacket with a hood on the next exam days.
โ
Eye moisturizer - You'll be taking each subject for 4 hours, and your eyes will be strained from reading on the laptop. Eye moisturizer helped my eyes a lot. (Use eyeglasses)
โ
Wet Tissue - You can eat chocolates or candies/light snacks during the exam. Wipe your hands, especially your fingers, with wet tissue so you won't mess up or dirty the keyboard of your laptop.
Tips:
Don't wear tight pants and shirts. I wore tight pants and shirts on the first day and regretted it. I didn't realize I'd be sitting for 4 hours per subject; my stomach got bloated from coffee and chocolates, and I couldn't breathe easily.
If you can't sleep the night before the exam, just rest. Don't study again. (Most examinees cannot sleep well.
Normal!)
Don't rush to finish. I always finished last because I used my time reviewing my answers, punctutations, grammar, etc.
Make your answers: Short, Direct, and Complete. 6 sentences is the maximum for me. Use simple English.
Please review the guidelines on what's allowed and not allowed to bring.
