: CLASSES ARE SUSPENDED

SUSPENSION OF CLASSES IN THE AFTERNOON OF JULY 23, 2024 IN ILOILO CITY DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER

To safeguard the safety of students and residents, I approve the recommendation of the Iloilo City Operations Center to suspend face-to-face classes (preschool to senior high school) this afternoon in all public and private schools within Iloilo City.

Based on PAGASA advisories, current weather observations, and all available weather data, Iloilo City faces continued risks due to the effects of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) enhanced by Typhoon Carina. We anticipate:

* Occasional moderate to heavy rains
* Cloudy skies with 100% cloud cover
* Strong to gale-force gusts in coastal areas

I extend my warm congratulations to President Ferdinand "B**gbong" Marcos Jr. for delivering a comprehensive State of the Nation Address.

As evidenced by the highlighted achievements of his administration, our President has indeed been doing very well over the past two years, showcasing his effective leadership and his ongoing commitment to excellence.

For me, his administration is clearly on the right path, particularly in prioritizing crucial projects and programs in sectors such as agriculture, education, health, and agrarian reform. These initiatives, aimed at benefiting our marginalized sectors, are essential for the nation's progress and development.

I express our gratitude to the President for his continuous support for projects that directly benefit the Ilonggos, such as the Jalaur River Multipurpose Project (JRMP) II. This project not only generates economic activity in Iloilo but also boosts rice production, leading to significant economic returns for Western Visayas.

Furthermore, I am pleased that the President acknowledged the completion of the Cebu-Negros-Panay backbone project, which serves as a vital solution to the longstanding issue of frequent blackouts in Panay and Negros. This infrastructure development is crucial for enhancing the region's energy stability.

I give my high regard to the President for his strong stance to uphold our sovereign rights in the West Philippine Sea and against illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO). These actions reflect his dedication to safeguarding our national interests and protecting our citizens.

As the city mayor, I assure the continued support of the Iloilo City Government towards President Marcos Jr.'s leadership. Our vision for the city and its people aligns with his, and we are dedicated to working together for the overall welfare and advancement of the country.

MORE Power, nagapabilin nga may pinakamanubo nga power rate bisan pa may July rate adjustment sa halos tanan nga power distribution utilities sa Visayas

Lauman sang mga konsumidor sang MORE Power ang pagsaka sang ila July billing cycle. Ini kasunod sang ginakabig “artificially low rates” sang Hunyo bangud sa pagpatuman sang installment sa Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) charges sandig sa mando sang Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) nga ginpetsahan Hunyo 13, 2024.

Nagsaka sa P12.8566 per kWh ang average residential rate subong nga Hulyo. Ini bangud sa pagsaka sang generation charge.

Para sa subong nga July cycle, P7.5572 per kWh ang generation rate. Kon sa diin, nagsaka ini sang P3.5739 per kWh halin sa June 2024 rate nga P3.9833 per kWh.

Ang tinalikdan nga rate ang dapat mas taas gid lang sang dyutay sa rate sa bulan sang Mayo. Apang ginpanubuan ini sang MORE Power sang P2.5514 per kWh, gani nagnubo ini sa P8.7749 per kWh. Ini base sa mando sang ERC nga i-installment ang koleksyon sang WESM charges.

Tinutuyo sini nga mahagan-hagan ang epekto sa konsumidor, kasunod sang serye sang red kag yellow alerts sa Luzon kag Visayas grids sang summer.

Nagpabutyag si Niel Parcon, Vice President for Corporate Energy Sourcing and Regulatory Affairs (CESRA) sang MORE Power nga ang pagsaka sa bulan sang Hulyo ang ginalauman na bangud sa pagdugang sang ika-duha ka bulan nga installment sang WESM charges.

Kun wala sang deferment, ang power rate sang MORE Power sang Hunyo, mangin P11.862 per kWh. Dyutay gid lang ini nga increase sa bulan sang Mayo nga rate nga yara lamang sa P11.3263 per kWh.

“Our average residential rate could have dropped to P11.6625 per kWh in the July billing cycle without the deferment,” dugang pa ni Parcon.

Sa pihak sini, nagapabilin nga ang Distribution, Supply kag Metering (DSM) charges sang MORE Power yara sa P2.3376 per kWh.

Ini lamang ang portion sang power rate nga nagakadto sa distribution utility.

Bisan pa nagsaka ang power rates sa bulan sang Hulyo, nagapabilin ang MORE Power nga may pinakamanubo nga rate sa tanan nga distribution utilities sa Visayas.

May pinakamataas amu ang ILECO II nga may P16.2561 per kWh. Ginasundan ini sang NOCECO nga may P16.1306 per kWh. Kag ikatatlo amo ang CAPELCO nga may P14.6216 per kWh. (More Power Iloilo)

CENECO nga may P13.3625 per kWh. ILECO III nga may P13.3297 per kWh. VECO nga may P13.2588 per kWh. Wala pa nakapagwa sang published power rates ang ANTECO, AKELCO, kag ILECO 1.

President Ferdinand “B**gbong” Marcos Jr. is set to lead the inauguration of the mega dams of the Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project Stage II (JRMP II) in Calinog, Iloilo on Tuesday, July 16, which is one of the 194 identified priority infrastructure projects under his “Build Better More” program.

It is noted that President Marcos Jr., who also heads the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) board, previously granted additional funds to JRMP II through a loan restructuring worth P8.48 billion for its completion. This is on top of the project’s original budget of P11.2 billion.
