JLA Year 4 Oath Taking Ceremony

The new members of the Journal for Law Advocacy (JLA) finally took their oath last April 24, 2025 at the WVSU College of Law Moot Court. The oath of duty was administered by Judge Enrique Trespeces (Adviser to the JLA).

The said event was attended by Dean Atty. Pauline Grace Buรฑol-Alfuente, Associate Dean Atty. Ian Thomas Besana, Atty. Mehelinda Penetrante, Atty. Tina Marie Coo, Atty. Regina Gustilo, and Atty. Federic Loise Regencia.

The Journal for Law Advocay (JLA) Year 4 Editorial Team held their first meet up and orientation on April 3, 2025 led by Judge Enrique Z. Trespeces.

The orientation discussed the activity calendar for this year's volume.

The Journal for Law Advocacy is proud to present the 4th Volume of its publication with the theme โ€œEnhancing Environmental Laws in the Philippines: Strengths, Weaknesses, and Reforms Toward a Balanced and Healthful Ecology.โ€

As legal scholars, practitioners and advocates, we are on a mission to ensure that environmental law evolves to meet the challenges of our time. Volume 4 of the Journal for Law Advocacy seeks to support this effort by offering interdisciplinary perspectives and practical notes for upholding environmental laws in the Philippines.

The articles presented here explore the interplay between legal theory and practice. It examines how our legal framework can serve as both a shield against environmental degradation and a sword for demanding accountability. This volume aims to inspire meaningful narrative and action and to achieve a truly balanced and healthful ecology.

The Journal for Law Advocacy (JLA) successfully launched its 4th volume, entitled โ€œEnhancing Environmental Laws in the Philippines: Strengths, Weaknesses, and Reforms Toward a Balanced and Healthful Ecology,โ€ on December 14, 2024. The launch took place during the Year-End Assessment of Activities of the WVSU College of Law, held at the Quezon Hall Grounds.

The ceremony was attended by esteemed College of Law Faculty and Staffs, including JLA Advisers Judge Enrique Z. Trespeces and Prosecutor Victoria Heler, who both shared their messages. Luigi Bien Villanueva, the Executive Board of Editors, delivered the Editorโ€™s note, while Mary Gemzel Alcazar, a Member of the Board of Editors, provided insights on the design of the journalโ€™s cover page.

The contributors to the volume were also recognized during the event, receiving certificates and tokens in appreciation of their valuable contributions to the publication.

The Oath Taking Ceremony was held last April 4, 2024 at WVSU College of Law Moot Court with Judge Enrique Trespeces administering the oath of duty. This marks the official beginning of their responsibilities for this year's edition.

Dean Atty. Pauline Grace Buรฑol-Alfuente, Assoiate Dean Atty. Ian Thomas Besana, Atty. Regina Gustilo, and Atty. Federic Loise Regencia were also present during the said event.

The new members of JLA pledged to commit to the standard of academic publishing and legal writing with integrity and excellence.
