Agriculture will always have a future, especially when we bring the youth into it.

Grateful for the opportunity to serve as a Resource Person during the Regional Agricultural and Fishery Council (RAFC) Youth Sector Meeting, where I shared about DTI’s Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) and how it can open pathways for young people to venture into agripreneurship.

The RAFC members, farmers and agricultural leaders, are taking meaningful steps to involve the youth in sustaining and innovating the sector. It’s inspiring to see how their passion for agriculture goes hand in hand with nurturing the next generation of agri-entrepreneurs.

A message for the Young Farmers Challenge 2025 Provincial Awardees - Western Visayas

An honor to speak before the region’s brightest young agripreneurs, dreamers who turn ideas into enterprises, and enterprises into impact.

May this message remind us that agriculture is not just a livelihood, it is leadership, innovation, and nation-building in action.

At CentLes Vineyard in San Dionisio, where one of our YEP Completers is turning passion into purpose, I got to see firsthand how dreams can take root, quite literally. From just a hobby and trial and error, now rows of thriving grapevines stretch across the land, proving that with hard work and heart, even the unexpected can grow.

Before I left, I was handed a grape seedling, a small but powerful reminder that growth starts with a single step (or seed), carrying with it the story of a young entrepreneur who dared to begin.

San Dionisio must truly be proud to have this vineyard, a rising pride of the LGU and a symbol of what local innovation and determination can achieve.

Two days well spent with the YFC Awardees under the DA’s monitoring initiative, visiting inspiring enterprises and providing brief mentoring along the way.

From CentLes Vineyard in San Dionisio, where grapes aren’t just grown but are changing mindsets and turning hobbies into opportunities, to CrunchLeaf in Sara, TriFarm in San Rafael, and Ilaya’t Ilawod, Tagpuan Digital, and CirPro Innovations in Miagao, every stop showcased the passion, grit, and innovation our young entrepreneurs bring to their communities.

As I represented DTI, I had the privilege to mentor each of these enterprises, listening to their stories, sharing guidance, and seeing firsthand the creativity and grit behind their ventures. I was also able to personally meet some who are also our YEP Completers, continuing to step up as YFC Awardees. The work they’re doing already makes a real impact, and with continued mentoring, they’ll go even further.

May these enterprises keep thriving, inspiring, and pushing boundaries.
