LOOK! Building Skills, Creating Opportunities through Partnership
The Iloilo Riverplains SLP Association (IRPSA) of Brgy. Camalig, Jaro, Iloilo City, organized under the DSWD Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), recently participated in a Basic Catering Services Training conducted in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
The training was attended by 25 IRPSA members, who gained hands-on knowledge on basic event setup, including napkin folding and table skirting - essential skills in providing quality catering and food service.
The association plans to venture into an Eatery and Catering Services enterprise with assistance through the SLP Seed Capital Fund (SCF). The initiative is further strengthened through the partnership with the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) and the Iloilo City Local Housing Office (ICLHO) under the Program Convergence Budgeting (PCB).

LOOK! | Strengthening Partnerships for Sustainable Livelihoods
The DSWD Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) strengthened its partnership with Guimaras State University (GSU) through a collaborative meeting aimed at enhancing the delivery of livelihood services and capacity-building interventions for SLP participants in Guimaras.
The meeting, facilitated by Dr. Julius Vergara and Director Daisy Ibieza of the GSU Research and Extension Office, highlighted potential technical trainings on calamansi-based product development, juice processing, cookies and muffins production, and product packaging and labeling. Staff development initiatives for PPMO–Iloilo City and Guimaras personnel on news writing, documentation, and hands-on workshops in Canva and CapCut were also discussed.
The partnership seeks to equip SLP participants with relevant skills, maximize locally available resources, and support the establishment of viable and sustainable livelihood enterprises. Also present were SLP Regional Partnership Officer Elmer Jamolin, Ms. Gloria Templanza of the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY), and representatives from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), who shared program updates and explored opportunities for stronger convergence and collaboration.
Together, SLP and GSU continue to build partnerships that turn knowledge and skills into sustainable livelihood opportunities for communities in Guimaras.

LOOK! A total of 31 applicants were hired on the spot (HOTS) during the Job Fair held at the Municipal Gymnasium of Buenavista, Guimaras, in celebration of Linggo ng Kabataan. The activity, in partnership with PESO-Buenavista, TESDA Guimaras, and DOLE Guimaras, connected jobseekers with immediate employment opportunities. LOOK! Building Knowledge for Sustainable Aquaculture
To strengthen the technical knowledge and skills of its members in preparation for their aquaculture enterprise, the Millan LAB SLP Association of Barangay Millan, Sibunag, Guimaras participated in a Hito and Tilapia Management Training conducted by Guimaras State University (GSU) in collaboration with the Municipal Agriculture Office of Sibunag.

The training was attended by 25 association members, who actively participated in discussions on proper fish culture, pond preparation and management, feeding practices, water quality management, disease prevention, and other sustainable aquaculture techniques essential for the successful implementation of their livelihood project.

Serving as resource speakers were Gerald Sheo Thon D. Gamo, MFT of Guimaras State University and Joanne Pearl M. Barredo, Agricultural Technologist from the Municipal Agriculture Office of Sibunag, who shared their expertise and practical insights to help the participants build a strong foundation in aquaculture production.

Also present during the activity were Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Marilin Divinagracia, Millan Punong Barangay Hon. Procopio Magan Jr., April Joy Ganancial, LGU-SLP Focal Person, and SLP Project Development Officers Luzielle G. Golez and Ian John Fetiza, signifying the continued commitment of both the local government and partner agencies in empowering community-based livelihood associations.

The training forms part of the capacity-building component of the aquaculture livelihood project implemented through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) under the Program Convergence Budgeting (PCB) in partnership with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).

By investing in knowledge and skills development, the Millan LAB SLP Association is better equipped to manage a productive, sustainable, and climate-resilient aquaculture enterprise - bringing the community one step closer to improved livelihoods, increased food security, and long-term economic resilience.
