Capacity Building on Native Chicken Production for San Jose SLP Association

Lemery, Iloilo β€” The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), in partnership with the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), conducted a Training on Native Chicken Production and Management for the members of the San Jose SLP Association. The activity aimed to enhance the participants’ knowledge and skills in proper poultry managementβ€”an important step toward ensuring the sustainability and success of their livelihood project.

The training was conducted by Ms. Fely Michelle B. Matutino, Municipal Agriculturist, who discussed key topics such as breed selection and stages of development, housing and feeding management, brooding practices, prevention of common poultry diseases, and effective marketing strategies. She also emphasized the importance of proper record-keeping in managing poultry enterprises.

Through this capacity-building activity, participants gained practical knowledge and confidence that will serve as a strong foundation for the effective implementation of their poultry enterprise project. SLP Leon conducts Native Chicken Production Training to empower association participants

The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of Leon conducted a Native Chicken Production Training aimed at empowering the members of the OLLITIN SLP Association. The activity aim to equip the 30 participants and designated caretakers with proper knowledge and skills in native chicken handling and management before they formally start their livelihood project.

The training was made possible through a partnership with ISAT-University Leon Campus, under its Extension Office, reflecting the strong collaboration between the academe and the community in promoting sustainable livelihoods.

Invited as resource speakers were Ms. Ainy G. Layes for Introduction to Native Chicken Production, Dr. Rafael C. Cabarles for Management Practices and Biosecurity in Native Chicken Production and Ms. Florence C. Cabancalan – Nutrition and Ration Formulation in Native Chicken Production.

The participants also gained hands-on experience through a demonstration on ration formulation, enhancing their practical understanding of feed preparation and management techniques essential for successful native chicken production./ Mary Jane Tibes

β€ŽThe Regional Program Management Office (RPMO) of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VI, together with its field staff, crafted a unified Financial Management System (FMS) for SLP associations (SLPAs).
β€Ž
β€ŽStaff from various provincial offices of the program presented their existing financial recording materials during the SLP Workshop on Unified Financial Management System and Standardized Procurement Process for SLPAs. Through this sharing, participants collaborated to develop an FMS tailored for each type of industry that SLPAs engage in.

β€ŽThe output of this activity will serve as the unified tool for managing the finances of SLPAs across the region, ensuring a standardized system for both implementation and monitoring.

β€ŽDuring the two-day workshop, field staff were also capacitated on the salient features of the new Government Procurement Law. DSWD Procurement Section Head Janeth Gayorgor discussed the procurement process and the required documents for compliance.

SLP participants receive 10 new tricycles for Passinhon

The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of Passi City officially turned over ten (10) brand-new tricycles to the SLP Associations for their proposed livelihood project.

The participants come from the barangays of Pangi, Tagubong, Punong, Ayuyan, and Agdayao, as well as from the Abanse Passi and Pintados groups. This initiative aims to provide sustainable income opportunities and enhance mobility and access to services within their communities.

The project serves as a valuable support for the participants and their families, while also helping boost the local economy and strengthen the community’s sense of empowerment.

The turnover ceremony was presence by City Mayor Stephen A. Palmares, SP Member Katherine Palmares, Mr. Jerome Hugo, Implementing PDO, and Ms. Krishna Rodriguez , SLP Focal Person for Passi City, who all expressed their continued support for livelihood initiatives that uplift the lives of Passinhons.

DSWD6 joins Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI (DSWD FO VI) staff, including members of the Quick Response Teams (QRTs) from Iloilo and Antique, participated in the conduct of the Simultaneous Earthquake Drill today, Oct. 23.

Also joining the activity were personnel from various programs of the agency across different municipalities, who actively took part in the exercise to ensure preparedness in the event of an earthquake.

The drill, conducted as a preparedness measure following the recent earthquakes that have struck the country over the past few weeks, aimed to strengthen awareness, readiness, and teamwork among DSWD personnel in responding to earthquakes and possible tsunamis.

It also sought to ensure that every office, staff member, and community is equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to stay safe and respond effectively during emergencies./Slroma/jam

SLP Tubungan Strengthens Partnership for Homestay Management and Capacity-Building Project

The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Tubungan conducted a coordination meeting and partnership discussion for the development of a Training Plan on Homestay Management and the Capacity-Building Training Timeline in collaboration with Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U). The activity also covered the site visit and area assessment for the proposed project in Brgy. Igtuble, Tubungan, as well as the preparation of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between landowners, the Local Government Unit (LGU), and the SLP Association.

Lemery, Iloilo β€” The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA), successfully conducted a Training on Swine Fattening for the District 8 SLP Association. The activity aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge and practical skills in proper hog management, feeding techniques, housing systems, and disease preventionβ€”key components in achieving profitable and sustainable swine production.

The training was facilitated by Ms. Fely Michelle B. Matutino, Municipal Agriculturist of Lemery, who emphasized the importance of biosecurity measures, record-keeping, and responsible livestock management. Her discussion highlighted how proper documentation and adherence to safety standards can significantly improve productivity and income among local raisers.

Following the training, the SLP and DA teams conducted a site inspection to assess housing conditions, ventilation, and other factors affecting swine welfare and farm efficiency.

The SLP Iloilo conducted a Monitoring, Assessment, and Technical Assistance visit in the municipalities of Zarraga and Barotac Nuevo.

SLP implementers visited the ZALIPA SLP Association in Barangay Talaugis and the Zarraga Kauswagan SLP Association in Zarraga for their Water Refilling Project, as well as the Cabilauan Kabuhayan Uno SLP Association and the Laundry Shop of Cabilauan Kabuhayan Dos SLP Association in Barangay Cabilauan, Barotac Nuevo./Jelly Sanguenza
