Iloilo SLP Associations Celebrate Women’s Month at Tiendas Ilongga

This National Women’s Month, with the inspiring theme “Lead like the Babaylans, Pilipinas,” the SLP Associations from different municipalities of Iloilo are coming together to celebrate at Tiendas Ilongga. In partnership with the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions (LEDIP) Office and the Provincial Gender and Development Council (PGADC), this month-long event honors the strength and leadership of women in our communities.

Most of the participating SLP participants are strong, resilient women who continue to lead their families and communities through their growing enterprises. Their locally crafted products reflect not only creativity and quality, but also the strength, determination, and spirit of empowered Ilongga women.

We invite everyone to visit Tiendas Ilongga at the Ground Floor of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol

LOOK: SLP Projects in Carles Undergo NAPC Evaluation

In a continued effort to strengthen community livelihood initiatives, the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) supported the consultation and monitoring assessment led by the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) for two active associations in the Municipality of Carles.

The visit covered the LAGGGI SLP Association in Brgy. Gabi, which manages a Farming and Rice Retailing Project, and the Buaya SLP Association in Brgy. Buaya, Carles which operates a Fishing and Fish Processing Project. Both initiatives are funded under the 2025 Project Convergence Budget (PCB) and aim to provide sustainable income opportunities for their members.

Representatives from partner agencies joined the activity, including Mr. Nicacio De Rosas, NAPC Focal Person for Region VI; Mr. Teddy Matulac, Council Member of NAPC Western Visayas; and Ms. Araceli Labangon, Community Development Officer from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).

More than just an assessment, the activity became an opportunity for open dialogue—identifying challenges on the ground, offering technical guidance, and reinforcing collaboration among stakeholders. The team looked into the associations’ organizational management, financial practices, production capacity, and market connections to help improve operations and ensure long-term sustainability./Roi Platon
