🌾 Sugarcane Season in Negros: Time for Karga & Tapas! 🚜

As the “ber” months roll in, the fields of Negros come alive with the rhythm of karga (hauling) and tapas (harvesting). This is one of the busiest and most important times of the year for our sugarcane farmers — a season that marks the culmination of months of hard work and dedication.

From dawn till dusk, our sacadas and kargadors work tirelessly under the sun, cutting mature cane and loading it onto trucks bound for the mills. The sweet scent of freshly cut sugarcane fills the air, a reminder that Negros remains the heart of the Philippine sugar industry.

Beyond the harvest, this season also fuels local economies — providing livelihood, movement, and hope to countless Negrense families. Each stalk of cane tells a story of resilience, community, and pride in our agricultural heritage.

So as we welcome the “ber” months, let’s celebrate and honor the hardworking men and women behind our sugar — the lifeblood of Negros. 💪🏽
