Hindi na lang basura ang Great Pacific Garbage Patch sa Karagatang Pasipiko. Ayon sa mga siyentipiko, ang mga lumulutang na plastik dito ay nagiging tirahan na ng ilang uri ng buhay-dagat.

Babala ng mga eksperto, binabago ng plastic pollution ang natural na balanse ng karagatan at maaaring magdulot ng mas malaking panganib sa ekosistema—lalo na sa mga bansang umaasa sa dagat tulad ng Pilipinas.

Isa itong paalala: hindi normal ang ganitong kalagayan, at kailangan ng agarang aksyon laban sa plastik sa karagatan.

Advocacy groups BAYAN USA and Migrante USA are calling for the immediate release of Chantal Anicoche, who is confirmed to be under the custody of the Armed Forces of the Philippines following military operations in Abra de Ilog, Mindoro.

Nananatiling nasa Alert Level 3 ang Bulkang Mayon matapos mamataan ang sitwasyon nito kaninang alas-6:59 ng umaga ng Huwebes, Enero 8, 2026, sa Legazpi City, Albay.

Ayon sa mga awtoridad, patuloy ang katamtamang pag-aalboroto ng bulkan na may posibilidad ng biglaang pagsabog, lava flow, at pagbuga ng abo. Pinapayuhan ang mga residente na manatiling alerto at huwag pumasok sa 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ).

Nakaantabay ang mga lokal na pamahalaan at disaster response teams sakaling kailanganin ang agarang paglikas ng mga komunidad na apektado.
