What’s in mangrove??
A mangrove is a type of tree or shrub that grows in coastal areas where saltwater and freshwater mix, such as estuaries, lagoons, and tidal flats. Mangroves are specially adapted to survive in salty, waterlogged soils.
Features:
*Prop roots and aerial roots help support the tree and allow it to breathe in muddy, oxygen-poor environments.
* They provide nurseries for fish, crabs, and shrimp, making them important for marine biodiversity.
* Mangrove forests help protect coastlines from erosion, storm surges, and tsunamis.
* They are excellent carbon sinks, storing large amounts of carbon and helping combat climate change.
